Compact Polarimetry SAR and Compact Polarimetric SAR Interferometry

2021
Polarimetric SAR can obtain more abundant target information compared to ordinary single-polarized synthetic aperture radar. However, the addition of polarimetric ability increases the complexity of SAR system greatly, which imposes demanding requirements for antenna technology, data download rate, and power consumption.

COmpact Polarimetry Potentials

2011 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2011
The goal of this study is to show the potential of a compact-ol SAR system for vegetation applications. Compact-pol concept has been suggested to minimize the system design while maximize the information and is declined as the pi/4, pi/2 and hybrid modes.

Compact polarimetry for automotive applications

International Journal of Microwave and Wireless Technologies, 2019
AbstractThough compact polarimetric approaches have been developed and applied in space and geo researching systems they have not been taken into consideration in automotive applications, yet. A sensor system has been designed to conduct polarimetric measurements in the 77 GHz frequency band, which is permitted for automotive usage. This system is able

On the ship detection performance with compact polarimetry

2011 IEEE RadarCon (RADAR), 2011
This paper examines the performance of compact polarimetry (CP) for ship detection. An improved polarimetric information reconstruction algorithm is proposed based on a modified four-component model-based decomposition. The helix scattering component is considered in the reconstruction procedure to deal with the case when reflection symmetry condition ...

Compact Polarimetry Mode for a Low Frequency SAR in Space

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
In spaceborne SAR, a single-polarisation on transmit has, over full polarisation, the vast advantage of a double swath due to SAR system design issues. Without getting into the technical details deserving by themselves a full paper, we can just mention the swath characteristics of ALOS PALSAR, reducing from 70km for dual-pol mode to 30 km for full ...

Compact static Fourier transform imaging spectropolarimeter based on channeled polarimetry

Optics Letters, 2010
The theoretical operation and experimental demonstration of a Fourier transform imaging spectropolarimeter for real time measurement of the polarization state of light are presented. The spectropolarimeter uses a Wollaston prism as a birefringent interferometer and two high-order retarders to incorporate channeled polarimetry.

New parameters in compact polarimetry for ocean target detection

IET International Radar Conference 2013, 2013
In this paper, we develop three new parameters for compact polarimetry to a particular application in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) maritime surveillance, i.e., the joint oil-spill and ship detection. Based on the X-Bragg rough surface scattering model, we investigate the capability of compact polarimetry, a dual-polarized system, for sea surface ...
