Offshore, Unmanned Auto-Leveling Sea-Surface Drifting Platform with Compact Size

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
This paper proposes an offshore, unmanned auto-leveling sea-surface drifting platform, with a compact size of 0.7 m in diameter, used for obtaining air-sea interface environmental parameters. The platform was designed based on the parallel mechanism with

Visual MAV Tracker with Adaptive Search Region

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Tracking a micro aerial vehicle (MAV) is challenging because of its small size and swift motion. A new model was developed by combining compact and adaptive search region (SR).

High Resolution Mid-Infrared Imaging of Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Observations of ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs) with an achieved resolution approaching the diffraction limit in the mid-infrared from 8 - 25 $\mu$m using the Keck Telescopes are reported.

Compact size dipole antenna

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2008
A novel wideband planar dipole antenna is proposed. This antenna has a simple structure and compact size. For verification, the newly proposed structure was fabricated and measured. It is shown that the return loss of the antenna between 3.0 and 7.5 GHz is better than - 10 dB. The radiation performance is good over the whole frequency band.

Enhanced periodic structures with compact size

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2004
Enhanced planar periodic structures with compact size, i.e. electromagnetic bandgap structures, in the microwave region, with T-type loaded capacitance realised by microstrip line are presented. The simulated and measured results show that the proposed periodic structures have not only compact size but also improved band rejection characteristic.

The merger history of massive spheroids since z~1 is size independent [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Using a compilation of 379 massive (stellar mass M > 10^{11} M_Sun) spheroid-like galaxies from the near-infrared Palomar/DEEP-2 survey, we have probed, up to z~1, whether the presence of companions depends on the size of the host galaxies.

Compact size K-band bandpass filter

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2009
A novel compact size K-band bandpass filter using triangular closed-loop resonators is proposed. By introducing cross-coupling capacitance between the input and output ports of the filter, a transmission zero in the upper band is obtained. The filter has the advantages of compact size with dimensions of 11times 8.6 mm and a sharp cutoff frequency ...

Bridging sheet size controls densification of MXene films for robust electromagnetic interference shielding

open access: yesiScience, 2022
Summary: Numerous voids among the incompact layer-structure of MXene films result in their low ambient stability and poor innate conductivity for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding.

Comparing galaxy populations in compact and loose groups of galaxies

open access: yes, 2012
We perform a comparison of the properties of galaxies in compact groups, loose groups and in the field to deepen our understanding of the physical mechanisms acting upon galaxy evolution in different environments. We select samples of galaxies in compact

Search for Compact Extragalactic Radio Sources Near Massive Star Forming Regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We have used the Very Large Array to search for compact milliarcsecond-size radio sources near methanol masers in high-mass star-forming regions. Such sources are required for Very Long Baseline Interferometry phase-referencing observations. We conducted
