Measures on Suslinean spaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We study the existence of non-separable compact spaces that support a measure and are small from the topological point of view. In particular, we show that under Martin's axiom there is a non-separable compact space supporting a measure which has countable $\pi$-character and which cannot be mapped continuously onto $[0,1]^{\omega_1}$.

Numerical Studies of Influencing Factors on the Homogeneity of the Powder Mixture during the Powder Spreading Process of Powder Bed Fusion–Laser Beam/Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
AISI 304L stainless steel powder is mixed with silicon nitride (Si3N4) powder and processed by PBF‐LB/M, allowing partial retention of Si3N4. The numerical approach effectively predicts the Si3N4 powder homogeneity and N content distribution on the powder bed. Recent studies have focused on the alloying of nitrogen (N) in high‐alloy stainless steels by

On $C$-properties of the space of idempotent robability measures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In the work it is shown that the space of idempotent probability measures with compact supports is kappa-metrizable if the given Tychonoff space is kappa-metrizable. It is constructed a series of max-plus-convex subfunctors of the functor of idempotent probability measures with compact supports. Further, it is established that the functor of idempotent

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

The weakly compact reflection principle need not imply a high order of weak compactness [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The weakly compact reflection principle $\text{Refl}_{\text{wc}}(\kappa)$ states that $\kappa$ is a weakly compact cardinal and every weakly compact subset of $\kappa$ has a weakly compact proper initial segment. The weakly compact reflection principle at $\kappa$ implies that $\kappa$ is an $\omega$-weakly compact cardinal.

Nonlinear Differential Inequalities and Functions of Compact Support [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
This paper is concerned with strongly nonlinear (and possibly degenerate) elliptic partial differential equations in unbounded regions. To broaden the class of problems for which solutions exist, the equation and boundary conditions are expressed by use of set-valued functions; this involves no technical complications.

Development and Validation of a One‐Dimensional Finite Difference Simulation Scheme for Polymer Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Application to the Effect of the Inter Layer Time

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.

Magnetic barriers of compact support and eigenvalues in spectral gaps

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2003
We consider Schr"odinger operators $H = -Delta + V$ in $L_2(mathbb{R}^2)$ with a spectral gap, perturbed by a strong magnetic field $mathcal{B}$ of compact support.

Onset of superradiant instabilities in rotating spacetimes of exotic compact objects

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Exotic compact objects, horizonless spacetimes with reflective properties, have intriguingly been suggested by some quantum-gravity models as alternatives to classical black-hole spacetimes.

Ultra‐Shallow Flat Heat Waves on Low Thermal Conductivity Flexible Polyimide Substrate for Millisecond Thermal Analysis of Materials and Bioelectronic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An electronic system is presented consisting of a silver thin‐film electrode on a polyimide substrate working both as a heating element and a resistive temperature sensor, generating millisecond heat pulses with very fast heating and cooling rates and a flat peak temperature with a tunable duration.
