Public risk perception of covid-19 transmission and support for compact development

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications, 2023
In the last few decades, there has been a definitive shift in public support for compact development – characterized by high densities, more multifamily residential use, and effective public transit.

Localization and slow-thermalization in a cluster spin model

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2022
Novel cluster spin model with interactions and disorder is introduced and studied. In specific type of interactions, we find an extensive number of local integrals of motions (LIOMs), which are a modified version of the stabilizers in quantum information,

Bounded Solutions of Ideal MHD with Compact Support in Space-Time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We show that in 3-dimensional ideal magnetohydrodynamics there exist infinitely many bounded solutions that are compactly supported in space-time and have non-trivial velocity and magnetic fields.

Practical challenges in data‐driven interpolation: Dealing with noise, enforcing stability, and computing realizations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary In this contribution, we propose a detailed study of interpolation‐based data‐driven methods that are of relevance in the model reduction and also in the systems and control communities. The data are given by samples of the transfer function of the underlying (unknown) model, that is, we analyze frequency‐response data.

(In)homogeneous invariant compact convex sets of probability measures

open access: yesPracì Mìžnarodnogo Geometričnogo Centru, 2020
It is proved that for any iterated function system of contractions on a complete metric space there exists an invariant compact convex sets of probability measures of compact support on this space.

Data‐driven performance metrics for neural network learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView., 2023
Summary Effectiveness of data‐driven neural learning in terms of both local mimima trapping and convergence rate is addressed. Such issues are investigated in a case study involving the training of one‐hidden‐layer feedforward neural networks with the extended Kalman filter, which reduces the search for the optimal network parameters to a state ...

The limit distribution in the q-CLT for q ≥ 1 is unique and can not have a compact support [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In a paper by Umarov et al (2008 Milan J. Math. 76 307–28), a generalization of the Fourier transform, called the q-Fourier transform, was introduced and applied for the proof of a q-generalized central limit theorem (q-CLT).

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

A Plancherel Theorem On a Noncommutative Hypergroup

open access: yesInternational Journal of Analysis and Applications, 2022
Let G be a locally compact hypergroup and let K be a compact sub-hypergroup of G. (G, K) is a Gelfand pair if Mc(G//K), the algebra of measures with compact support on the double coset G//K, is commutative for the convolution.

Compact support probability distributions in random matrix theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We consider a generalization of the fixed and bounded trace ensembles introduced by Bronk and Rosenzweig up to an arbitrary polynomial potential. In the large-N limit we prove that the two are equivalent and that their eigenvalue distribution coincides ...
