Welding consumable research for compacted graphite cast iron
Research has developed a new consumable material for gas welding of compacted graphite (CG) cast iron. The effects of C, Si, RE (rare earth), Ti, Al and weld cooling rate on graphite and matrix structure of compacted graphite cast iron welds have been studied. The optimum C, Si, RE and Ti contents of the weld metal were determined.

Effects of impurities on graphite shape during solidification of spheroidal graphite cast ions [PDF]
International audienceSince the discovery that magnesium and cerium (and more generally rare earths) added at low level to cast iron melts lead to spherodized graphite, it is known that some other elements are detrimental even when present as traces.

Study of the austempering transformation kinetics in compacted graphite cast irons
In this work, the phases involved in the transformation austenite→ferrite+high-carbon austenite in cast irons were assessed by means of Mossbauer spectroscopy and hardness measurements for samples austempered at five different temperatures between 573 and 673 K with two Mn contents.
