Microbial mediation and climatic control on dolomite precipitation in a hypersaline lake: Insights from Salinas Lake, southern Iberia

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
The cyclical nature of aridity and humidity led to the alternating deposition of dolomite‐rich and calcite‐rich sediments. During arid phases, the lake hydrology and growth of microbial mats under evaporative and hypersaline environment favors the precipitation of dolomite.

Enhanced Electrochemical Performance of Supercapacitors Using Fe3O4‐Doped Biomass‐Derived Activated Carbon Electrodes

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The energy storage performance of supercapacitors—defined by specific capacitance, energy density, and power density—is strongly influenced by the structural and electrochemical properties of electrode materials. While cathode development has advanced significantly, research on efficient and sustainable anode materials remains limited ...

Influence of Calendering on the Variation in Material Compositions of the Composite Cathode of Polymer‐Based Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
Increasing the amount of the LFP active material in the polymer‐based composite cathode reduces mass loading. Furthermore, the composite cathode exhibits increased porosity and roughness after drying. Using the same roller gap during calendering results in a composite cathode with high porosity and roughness.

Microstructure, mechanical, and thermal properties of compositionally complex (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6 ceramics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Novel compositionally complex borides, (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2 and (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6, were fabricated using spark plasma sintering process. (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2‒LaB6 exhibits a dual‐phase microstructure, in which (Hf,Zr,Nb,Ti)B2 is a primary phase with the hexagonal structure and LaB6 is a secondary phase with a cubic structure.
