Technology ability of laser bonding of compacted graphite iron

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. Laser welding features of compacted graphite iron are described in this paper. An approach that allows to reduce residual stresses and the probability of occurrence of "hot" cracks in the weld seam as well as to increase the absorption coefficient of laser radiation due to the use of metal powder Ni-Cr-B-

Graphene Nanofibers by Integrated Manufacturing of Electrospinning and Laser Graphitization for Miniaturized Energy Storage Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated manufacturing combines electrospinning and laser graphitization to produce graphene nanofibers (GNFs) from fluorinated polyimide (fPI). GNFs, with meso‐ and micropores, enhance micro‐supercapacitors performance, demonstrating energy density over two orders of magnitude higher than conventional ones, making them ideal for miniaturized energy ...

Simplified ResNet approach for data driven prediction of microstructure-fatigue relationship [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The heterogeneous microstructure in metallic components results in locally varying fatigue strength. Metal fatigue strongly depends on size and shape of non-metallic inclusions and pores, commonly referred to as "defects". Nodular cast iron (NCI) contains graphite inclusions (nodules) whose shape and frequency influence the fatigue strength.
