A data clipping and normalization technique is employed to improve the performance of the overall direct detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO‐OFDM) system. A detailed analysis of clipping distortion introduced by digital clipping and normalization is provided. The normalization operation amplifies the clipped data signal to

Non‐linear companding transform for DCO‐OFDM‐based VLC systems [PDF]
In this study, a novel non‐linear companding transform (NCT) is proposed for the DC‐biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO‐OFDM) based visible light communications (VLC). The authors lower the peak‐to‐average power ratio (PAPR) of the original DCO‐OFDM signals to mitigate the transmission performance ...

Smart hospitals have enormous potential to improve global standards of medical services. Integrating fifth‐generation (5G) and beyond 5G radio with the present healthcare framework can make hospitals smarter. High spectral access, data rate, capacity, low latency, and large data handling are requirements of innovative hospitals.

Light‐emitting diode‐ (LED‐) based visible light communication (VLC) has become a potential candidate for next generation high‐speed indoor wireless communication. Due to the limited modulation bandwidth of the LED, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulation is particularly preferred in the VLC system to overcome the ISI, which ...

A low-complexity companding transform for peak-to-average power ratio reduction in OFDM systems
[[abstract]]© 2006 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers - The high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) feature is one main drawback associated with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems.

A PAPR correction scheme for LoRa self‐jamming waveforms
A self‐jamming scheme of LoRa waveforms enabling secure transmissions is recently proposed in literature, which performs well in simulations. However, experiments on SDR equipment immediately showed that a transmission is impossible due to PAPR introduced by the waveform modification.

This study proposes an iterative, joint channel estimation, equalization, and data detection method in the presence of high mobility for a multicarrier downlink system that communicates over rapidly time‐varying channels. The proposed method uses a basis expansion method (BEM) which has low computational complexity and helps to reduce the number of ...

Companding transform based SPM compensation in coherent optical OFDM transmission
We demonstrate a mitigation of fiber nonlinearity based on μ-law companding transform in coherent optical OFDM transmissions. High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) increases fiber nonlinear impairments caused by the Kerr effect in optical fiber. The μ-law companding modifies amplitude profile of OFDM signal with time domain signal processing, which ...

Abstract The Terminal Tracking Camera (TTCam) imaging system on the NASA Lucy Discovery mission consists of a pair of cameras that are being used mainly as a navigation and target acquisition system for the mission's asteroid encounters. However, a secondary science‐focused function of the TTCam system is to provide wide‐angle broadband images over a ...
