Comparative Effects of Wild Boar (Sus scrofa) Rooting on the Chemical Properties of Soils in Natural and Post-Fire Environments of the Edough Forest Massif (Northeastern Algeria)

open access: yesLand
Wild boars use a wide range of habitats. Their invasive nature is gaining attention due to the complexity of its impact. The goal of this research is to analyze the impact of the wild boar on the chemical properties of soils in a natural and a post-fire ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Mitogenomic architecture and phylogenetic placement of Ctenophthalmus yunnanus and Frontopsylla diqingensis: insights from comparative genomics

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Fleas are among the most common hematophagous ectoparasites of mammals. In addition to causing allergic dermatitis and anemia, they can transmit various pathogens. Currently, molecular data on fleas remain relatively scarce.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Mitogenomic Insights into Temperature Adaptation: A Comparative Study of the Subfamily Corydalinae Davis, 1903 (Megaloptera: Corydalidae)

open access: yesInsects
Corydalinae (dobsonfly) is one of the subfamilies of the megalopteran family Corydalidae. Species of Corydalinae are some of the largest freshwater insects in the world. Comparative analyses of mitochondrial genomes in Corydalinae were conducted.

The impact of competition on unilateral incentives to innovate [PDF]

open access: yes
We investigate the impact of the degree of competition in a Cournot market on one firm's unilateral incentives to invest in R&D. Applying comparative static analyses we get different predictions depending on the magnitude of the innovation efficiency ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
