Comparative Studies on Oncomodulin
1988Oncomodulin is the name given to a calcium-binding protein of Mr 11700 kDa first noticed in 1979 in extracts of rat hepatomas (MacManus 1979), and later shown to be related, by comparison of amino acid sequences, to the β-parvalbumin subfamily of the large superfamily of calmodulin proteins (MacManus and Whitfield 1983; MacManus et al. 1983a,b).

General and Comparative Endocrinology, 1975Abstract The mammalian intestinal hormone secretin is related in structure to the pancreatic hormone glucagon, and to two peptides recently isolated from hog duodenum, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP). Because of their structural similarities it has been suggested that these peptides evolved from a common ...

Comparative studies of paramyosins
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1976Abstract 1. 1. Paramyosin has been isolated from animals in seven invertebrate phyla. 2. 2. The paramyosin/myosin weight ratio in these muscles varies from 0.07 to 2.2. 3. 3. The amino acid compositions of these paramyosins have been determined and comparison by a multivariate statistical method shows that protein similarity coincides ...
