Jacobi polynomials from compatibility conditions [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 2004
We revisit the ladder operators for orthogonal polynomials and re-interpret two supplementary conditions as compatibility conditions of two linear over-determined systems; one involves the variation of the polynomials with respect to the variable

Short-term pre-exposure to modality mappings: Modality-incompatible single-task exposure reduces modality-specific between-task crosstalk in task-switching

open access: yesActa Psychologica, 2022
Modality compatibility refers to the similarity of the stimulus modality and the modality of the sensory-response effect that the response produces (i.e., vocal responses produce auditory effects).

Arbitrage Pricing and Equilibrium Pricing: Compatibility Conditions [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2002
The problem of fair pricing of contingent claims is well understood in the contex of an arbitrage free, complete financial market, with perfect information: the so-called arbitrage approach permits to construct a unique valuation operator compatible with observed price processes.

A Meir-Keeler type common fixed point theorem for four mappings [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2011
In this paper, we prove a general common fixed point theorem for two pairs of weakly compatible self-mappings of a metric space satisfying a weak Meir-Keeler type contractive condition by using a class of implicit relations.

Curvature corrections and Kac–Moody compatibility conditions [PDF]

open access: yesGeneral Relativity and Gravitation, 2006
We study possible restrictions on the structure of curvature corrections to gravitational theories in the context of their corresponding Kac--Moody algebras, following the initial work on E10 in Class. Quant. Grav. 22 (2005) 2849. We first emphasize that the leading quantum corrections of M-theory can be naturally interpreted in terms of (non-gravity ...

The effect of visual-field difference for visual search on selective attention

open access: yesJournal of Human Environmental Studies, 2007
The aim of this study was to investigate the validity of Lavie's load theory (Lavie, 2005) from the point of view of cerebral lateralization. In Experiment 1, right-handed participants were asked to discriminate a target letter in a task-relevant ...

Face adaptation effects show strong and long-lasting transfer from lab to more ecological contexts

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
A review on recent experiments on figural face aftereffects reveals that adaptation effects in famous faces can be quite sustainable, lasting for hours up to days.

A Necessary Condition and a Sufficient Condition for Pairwise Compatibility Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Graph Algorithms and Applications, 2017
In this paper we give a necessary condition and a sufficient condition for a graph to be a pairwise compatibility graph (PCG). Let $G$ be a graph and let $G^c$ be the complement of $G$. We show that if $G^c$ has two disjoint chordless cycles then $G$ is not a PCG. On the other hand, if $G^c$ has no cycle then $G$ is a PCG.

Effect of pH and Additives on the Compatibility between Vancomycin and Furosemide Injections

open access: yes, 2018
The physicochemical compatibility between injections of different agents is very important. An injection of the antibiotic vancomycin (VCM) is acidic and its standard pH range is 2.5-4.5. In clinical treatments, VCM injections are often used with Lasix® (
