Market-Indexed Executive Compensation: Strictly for the Young [PDF]

open access: yes
Academics have long argued that incentive contracts for executives should be indexed to remove the influence of exogenous market factors. Little evidence has been found that firms engage in such practices, also termed "relative performance evaluation ...

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Research on application of voltage compensation in frequency-conversion speed-regulation system

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2013
For problem that asynchronous motor has inadequate starting torque with heavy load during low-frequency starting under control strategy of constant proportion of voltage to frequency, the paper proposed to use voltage compensation measure to improve ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Emergent Topological Magnons and Thermal Hall Effect in 2D Filling‐Enforced Fully Compensated Ferrimagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ferroelectric‐intercalation‐driven transitions in magnetic configurations and magnonic topological phases, together with the symmetry relations of magnonic Berry curvature. ABSTRACT Magnons in collinear magnets with vanishing net magnetization offer unique advantages for spin transport, including ultrafast dynamics and ...

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Goods and services tax - the 'Gourley' principle applies

open access: yes, 2010
Business and other compensation payments awarded by courts as a result of litigation generally recognise the impact that taxation will have on the recipient, ensuring that the recipient is no worse off as a result of the incidence of tax (the Gourley ...
