The Competition Complexity of Dynamic Pricing
Mathematics of Operations Research, 2022We study the competition complexity of dynamic pricing relative to the optimal auction in the fundamental single-item setting. In prophet inequality terminology, we compare the expected reward [Formula: see text] achievable by the optimal online policy on m independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) random variables distributed according to F to

The dynamics of international competitiveness
Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv, 1993The Dynamics of International Competitiveness. — This paper focuses on the determinants of international competitiveness over the seventies and eighties. The theoretical framework adopted here is based on a “technology-gap” account of trade flows. The econometric analysis relies on a dynamic model estimated by pooling time-series across countries.

In this paper, a new competitive learning algorithm called Dynamic Competitive Learning (DCL) is presented. DCL is a supervised learning method that dynamically generates output neurons and initializes automatically the weight vectors from training patterns. It introduces a new parameter called LOG (Limit of Grade) to decide whether an output neuron is

Dynamic R & D Competition [PDF]
The authors study a simple, two-stage, stochastic patent race involving two firms. They examine the behavior of the participants as they gain the lead or fall behind in the race. The authors find that the leader engages in RD (2) a policy of issuing patents for intermediate research results; and (3) the effects of research joint ventures, whereby the ...

Competitive coexistence in a dynamic landscape
Theoretical Population Biology, 2004This paper investigates the effect of a dynamic landscape on the persistence of many interacting species. We develop a multi-species community model with an evolving landscape in which the creation and destruction of habitat are dynamic and local in space. Species interactions are also local involving hierarchical competitive trade-offs.
