EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Biomedical Sensing with Free-Standing Complementary Supercell Terahertz Metasurfaces

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
We present a free-standing terahertz metasurface supercell that consists of four complementary mirrored asymmetric split-rectangular resonators. The quality factor of the excited resonance of this supercell has been significantly improved by 250% when ...

Longitudinal circulating tumor DNA profiling in patients with advanced endometrial cancer using an off‐the‐shelf targeted NGS panel

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumour heterogeneity complicates precision management of advanced endometrial cancer. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a minimally invasive strategy to capture tumor evolution and therapeutic resistance. Here, we compare tumor‐agnostic NGS with tumor‐informed ddPCR, outlining their relative sensitivity, concordance, and clinical implications ...

A Broadband Magnetic Coupling Microstrip to Waveguide Transition Using Complementary Split Ring Resonators

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A novel broadband microstrip to waveguide transition is proposed in this paper. A microstrip circuit is inserted into a waveguide along the axis of the broadside wall, and the referred waveguide is WR-90 standardized rectangular waveguide. The microstrip

EMC filter based on complementary split-ring resonators for audio applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Filters based on complementary split-ring resonators present a large notch attenuation at the resonant frequency. An application of these very low cost filters to an audio system interfered by a mobile phone is presented in this paper.Peer ...

Dual Polarized Reconfigurable Frequency Selective Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Novel band-stop active frequency selective surfaces (FSS) capable of modifying their response for different polarizations are proposed. Geometries based on full rings, and split rings are employed.

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Recent Advances in the Modeling of Transmission Lines Loaded with Split Ring Resonators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2015
This paper reviews the recent advances in the modeling of transmission lines loaded with split ring resonators (SRRs). It is well known that these artificial lines can exhibit a negative effective permeability in a narrow band above the SRR fundamental ...

Enhancing Complementary Split Ring Resonators Performance for Atherosclerosis Diagnosis

open access: yes2024 IEEE Biomedical Circuits and Systems Conference (BioCAS)
This paper presents an improved complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) used as a non-invasive microwave sensor for in-vivo detection of atherosclerotic plaques. The sensor geometry was optimized on low-loss substrates to enhance the trade-off between the energy stored in the resonator and the energy radiated into the biological tissue.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in
