On a Maximal Subgroup 2^6:(3^. S6) of M24 [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics Interdisciplinary Research, 2022
The Mathieu group M24 has a maximal subgroup of the form G ̅=N:G, where N=26 and G=3. S6 ≅ 3. PGL2 (9). Using Atlas, we can see that M24 has only one maximal subgroup of type 26:(3. S6). The group is a split extension of an elementary abelian group, N=26

Instantaneous simulation of fluids and particles in complex microfluidic devices. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Microfluidics researchers are increasingly using computer simulation in many different aspects of their research. However, these simulations are often computationally intensive: simulating the behavior of a simple microfluidic chip can take hours to ...

On cohomologically complete intersection modules [PDF]

open access: yesHiroshima Mathematical Journal, 2021
Let \(I\) denote an ideal of a local ring \((R,\mathfrak{m})\). A finitely generated \(R\)-module \(M\) is called cohomologically complete intersection with respect to \(I\) if \(H^i_I(M)\) vanishes for all \(i \not= \operatorname{grade} (I,M)\), where \(H^i_I(M)\) denotes the \(i\)-th local cohomology module of \(M\) with respect to \(I\). This is the

Superpotentials of D-branes in Calabi-Yau manifolds with several moduli by mirror symmetry and blown-up

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We study B-brane superpotentials depending on several closed- and open-moduli on Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces and complete intersections. By blowing up the ambient space along a curve wrapped by B-branes in a Calabi-Yau manifold, we obtain a blow-up new ...

Torsion orders of complete intersections

open access: yes, 2016
By a classical result of Roitman, a complete intersection $X$ of sufficiently small degree admits a rational decomposition of the diagonal. This means that some multiple of the diagonal by a positive integer $N$, when viewed as a cycle in the Chow group,

Euler characteristics of complete intersections [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
We point out that a conjecture of Chen and Ogiue, regarding the Euler characteristic of complete intersections, is a simple consequence of a theorem of Hirzebruch.

Inversion of Adjunction for the minimal exponent

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We prove that the minimal exponent for local complete intersections satisfies an Inversion-of-Adjunction property. As a result, we also obtain the Inversion of Adjunction for higher Du Bois and higher rational singularities for local complete ...

Performance and safety effectiveness evaluation of mini-roundabouts in Michigan

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science, 2023
This study evaluates the performance and safety effectiveness of mini-roundabouts. Crash, operational, and geometric data for 14 mini-roundabouts located in the state of Michigan were collected for both before and after installation time periods between ...

Matrix factorizations for quantum complete intersections

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce twisted matrix factorizations for quantum complete intersections of codimension two. For such an algebra, we show that in a given dimension, almost all the indecomposable modules with bounded minimal projective resolutions correspond to such

Complete intersection Calabi-Yau manifolds [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1988
An investigation is made of a class of Calabi-Yau spaces for which the manifold may be represented as a complete intersection of polynomials in a product of projective spaces. There are at least a hundred topologically distinct manifolds in this class. All manifolds in this class have negative Euler numbers which lie in the range of −200 ⩽ χ ⩽0.
