Representations and Completions for Ordered Algebraic Structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The primary concerns of this thesis are completions and representations for various classes of poset expansion, and a recurring theme will be that of axiomatizability.

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Model-completion of scaled lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
27 pagesIt is known from Grzegorczyk's paper \cite{grze-1951} that the lattice of real semi-algebraic closed subsets of ${\mathbb R}^n$ is undecidable for every integer $n\geq 2$.

Complete distributivity and $\alpha $-convergence [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
summary:In this paper we deal with the of an $MV$-algebra $\mathcal A$, where $\alpha $ and $\beta $ are nonzero cardinals. It is proved that if $\mathcal A$ is singular and $(\alpha,2)$-distributive, then it is . We show that if $\mathcal A$ is complete

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Laterally closed lattice homomorphisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Let A and B be two Archimedean vector lattices and let T:A→B be a lattice homomorphism. We call that T is laterally closed if T(D) is a maximal orthogonal system in the band generated by T(A) in B, for each maximal orthogonal system D of A. In this paper

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

A complete lattice technicolor model [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2014
We construct a lattice gauge theory using reduced staggered fermions and gauge fields which provides a nonperturbative realization of a complete technicolor model; one which treats both strong and weakly coupled gauge sectors on an equal footing. We show that the model is capable of developing a Higgs phase at nonzero lattice spacing via the formation

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Going down in (semi)lattices of finite Moore families and convex geometries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
summary:In this paper we first study what changes occur in the posets of irreducible elements when one goes from an arbitrary Moore family (respectively, a convex geometry) to one of its lower covers in the lattice of all Moore families (respectively, in
