Grain Boundary Space Charge Engineering of Solid Oxide Electrolytes: Model Thin Film Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates unprecedented control of grain boundary electrical properties in solid electrolytes. Selective diffusion of cations through grain boundaries in thin films enables 12 orders of magnitude variation in ionic resistance, proving that systematic chemical modification of grain boundary electrical properties is feasible.

Monotonicity rule for the quotient of two functions and its application

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In the article, we provide a monotonicity rule for the function [ P ( x ) + A ( x ) ] / [ P ( x ) + B ( x ) ] $[P(x)+A(x)]/[P(x)+B(x)]$ , where P ( x ) $P(x)$ is a positive differentiable and decreasing function defined on ( − R , R ) $(-R, R)$ ( R > 0 ...

Tracking the Dynamic and Interactive Metal Oxidation Changes in CoFe, CoNi, and NiFe Bimetallic Hydroxides for Electrocatalytic Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Operando hard X‐ray absorption spectroscopy is applied to track the dynamic and interactive metal oxidation changes in iron group bimetallic hydroxides under different chemical and electrochemical conditions. It shows that Co and Fe oxidation are relatively equal and synchronized in CoFeOxHy.

Complete Monotonicity of classical theta functions and applications

open access: yes, 2014
We produce trigonometric expansions for Jacobi theta functions\\ $\theta_j(u,\tau), j=1,2,3,4$\ where $\tau=i\pi t, t > 0$. This permits us to prove that\ $\log \frac{\theta_j(u, t)}{\theta_j(0, t)}, j=2,3,4$ and $\log \frac{\theta_1(u, t)}{\pi \theta'_1(

Multi‐Ion Doping Controlled CEI Formation in Structurally‐Stable High‐Energy Monoclinic‐Phase NASICON Cathodes for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract illustrates the synthesis pathway, morphological feature, and thermodynamic feasibility of entropy‐engineered NASICON cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries. Abstract Overcoming the energy density limitations of sodium‐ion batteries (NIBs) requires innovative strategies to optimize cathode materials.

Ex Post Implementation [PDF]

open access: yes
We analyze the problem of fully implementing a social choice set in ex post equilibrium. Weidentify an ex post monotonicity condition that is necessary and -- in economic environments -- sufficient for full implementation in ex post equilibrium.

Energy‐Efficient Bulk Photoalignment of Main‐Chain Liquid Crystalline Polymers Enabled by In Situ Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ monitoring of bulk photoalignment reveals how molecular weight, azobenzene content, cooling rate, and thickness govern ordering in main‐chain liquid crystalline polymers. Optimized copolymers exceed conventional thickness limits, maintaining stable alignment up to 130 µm with high energy efficiency and reversible optical patterning.

Single Solid‐State Ion Channels as Potentiometric Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single gold nanopores functionalized with mixed self‐assembled monolayers act as solid‐state ion channels for direct, selective potentiometric sensing of inorganic ions (Ag⁺). The design overcomes key miniaturization barriers of conventional ion‐selective electrodes by combining low resistivity with suppressed loss of active components, enabling robust

Reasoning with Partial Knowledge [PDF]

open access: yes
We investigate how sociological argumentation differs from the classical first-order logic. We focus on theories about age dependence of organizational mortality.
