Cell‐Free DNA as a Biomarker of Cell Death and Treatment Response for On‐Chip Three‐Dimensional Tumor Models

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents quantifying cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) as a non‐disruptive and rapidly quantifiable method for assessing cell death for on‐chip 3D sarcoma tumor models. On‐chip cfDNA release reflects tumor burden, extent of cell death, and survival of in vitro and ex vivo 3D models, providing valuable insight into the temporal response of tumor models ...

GDNF‐Enriched Small Extracellular Vesicle‐Loaded ROS‐Scavenging Hydrogel Promotes Neural Regeneration After Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A glial cell line‐derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF)‐enriched small extracellular vesicle‐loaded reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐scavenging hydrogel integrates sustained neurotrophic delivery with local modulation of oxidative and inflammatory stress after spinal cord injury. The composite hydrogel improves local vesicle retention, protects neural tissue,

Protein‐Polymer Dynamic Hydrogels Utilizing Native Ligand Binding for Injectable Therapeutic Delivery and 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Dynamic nanocolloidal hydrogels were synthesized via the co‐assembly of ligand‐modified spheroidal hyperbranched poly(glycerol) (HPG) and soluble albumin nanoparticles (SANs). Co‐assembly occurred through self‐association of the HPG, as well as its interaction with SANs via native ligand binding.

Pathological complete response and long-term clinical benefit in breast cancer: the CTNeoBC pooled analysis [PDF]

open access: yesLancet, The, 2014
Background Pathological complete response has been proposed as a surrogate endpoint for prediction of long-term clinical benefit, such as disease-free survival, event-free survival (EFS), and overall survival (OS).

Complete pathological response after neoadjuvant treatment in locally advanced esophageal cancer predicts long term survival: A retrospective cohort study [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Surgery, 2014
Background and objectivesEsophageal cancer incidence is gradually increasing worldwide. Studies have looked at the pathological stage rather than clinical stage as predictor of survival.
