This paper is concerned with the derivation and properties of differential complexes arising from a variety of problems in differential equations, with applications in continuum mechanics, relativity, and other fields. We present a systematic procedure which, starting from well-understood differential complexes such as the de Rham complex, derives new ...

Complex complex landscapes [PDF]
We study the saddle-points of the $p$-spin model -- the best understood example of a `complex' (rugged) landscape -- when its $N$ variables are complex. These points are the solutions to a system of $N$ random equations of degree $p-1$. We solve for $\overline{\mathcal N}$, the number of solutions averaged over randomness in the $N\to\infty$ limit.

Isolation of complexes formed between insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-3 and transferrin from the human serum [PDF]
Insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) play an important role in the regulation of cell growth, differentiation and metabolism. The amount of free, biologically active IGFs is regulated by the IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs).

We introduce a notion of complexity of diagrams (and, in particular, of objects and morphisms) in an arbitrary category, as well as a notion of complexity of functors between categories equipped with complexity functions. We discuss several examples of this new definition in categories of wide common interest such as finite sets, Boolean functions ...

The Role of Side Chains in the Fine-Tuning of the Metal-Binding Ability of Multihistidine Peptides
The systematic studies of copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) ion complexes of protected multihistidine peptides containing amino acids with different side chains (Ac-SarHAH-NH2, Ac-HADH-NH2, Ac-HDAH-NH2, Ac-HXHYH-NH2 X, Y = A, F, D or K, Ac-HXHAHXH-NH2,

Two mononuclear zero-dimensional Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes bearing diethylenetriamine derivative ligand, namely [NiL(CH3COO)2(H2O)] (1) and [ZnL(CH3COO)2] (2) [L = N, N’-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)diethylenetriamine], were synthesized under reflux conditions.

Every year, more Cu(II) complexes are proven to be biologically active species, but very few are developed as drugs or entered in clinical trials. This is due to their poor water solubility and lipophilicity, low stability as well as in vivo inactivation.
