Complex degree of coherence for partially coherent general beams in atmospheric turbulence

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2007
With the use of the general beam formulation, the modulus of the complex degree of coherence for partially coherent cosh-Gaussian, cos-Gaussian, Gaussian, annular and higher-order Gaussian optical beams is evaluated in atmospheric turbulence. For different propagation lengths in horizontal atmospheric links, the moduli of the complex degree of ...

Definition of a second-order degree of polarization in terms of the complex degree of coherence

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2023
The classical theory of random electric fields and polarization formalism has been formulated considering the Stokes parameters’ auto-correlations. However, in this work, the need to consider the Stokes parameters’ cross-correlations to obtain a complete description of the polarization dynamics of a light source is explained.

Phase structuring of the complex degree of coherence

Optics Letters, 2018
Simple conditions on the magnitude and phase of the complex degree of coherence of stationary, scalar, one-dimensional (1D) Schell-like sources are derived for the design of novel optical beam-like fields. Several examples of new sources obtained with the help of signum, odd monomials, and sine phase functions are given.

Complex degree of coherence measurement for classical statistical fields

Optics Letters, 2016
We propose a new method for measuring real and imaginary parts of the complex degree of coherence of a classical field obeying Gaussian statistics. Our method is based on mixing incoherently a coherent Gaussian beam, a local oscillator, and the statistical field.

Complex degree of coherence modeling with famous planar curves

Optics Letters, 2018
Several planar curves that are well known from mechanics, astronomy, acoustics, etc., and used in other branches of optics, such as caustics and light robotics, are employed for modeling of the recently introduced coherence curves [Opt. Lett.43, 4727 (2018)OPLEDP0146-959210.1364/OL.43.004727].

Interference phenomenon on the complex degree of coherence

Optical Review, 2019
A two-beam interferometer (TBI) with a two-mode fiber (TMF) as a dispersive medium in one arm and air in the other provides evidence of interference related to the complex degree of coherence $$\gamma $$. A TMF with a low differential group delay (DGD) is used to measure the interference effect, since the overlapping of each individual mode at the ...

Expansion of complex degree of coherence

Il Nuovo Cimento B, 1979
In this paper we establish an expansion of complex degree of coherence by using the properties that we can obtain from its definition. In the third section we utilize this expansion for studying the problem of object reconstruction; we conclude that, if the optical system fulfils some conditions, it is possible to construct, in an unique way, the ...
