Study of modal structure of a semiconductor laser by measurement of the complex degree of coherence

Annales des Télécommunications, 1980
The evaluation of the amplitude of the lateral transverse modes emitted by a semiconductor laser, by means of near or farfield techniques, generally is not easy. In this paper the behaviour of the optical coherence function provides much more sensitive method of analysis.

Complex Gaussian representations of partially coherent beams with nonconventional degrees of coherence

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2017
We adopt the recently introduced complex Gaussian function to expand the partially coherent beams with nonconventional degrees of coherence, and derive detailed representations of Hermite-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam, elliptical Laguerre-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam, and multi-Gaussian correlated Schell-model beam.

Experimental generation of partially coherent beams with different complex degrees of coherence

Optics Letters, 2013
We established an experimental setup for generating partially coherent beams with different complex degrees of coherence, and we report experimental generation of an elliptical Gaussian Schell-model (GSM) beam and a Laguerre-GSM beam for the first time.

Complex Degree of Coherence Due to Tilted Planar Sources

Journal of Modern Optics, 1987
Abstract The complex degree of coherence (CDC) due to a quasi-monochromatic spatially incoherent source can be displayed by performing a two-step procedure. The CDC information is encoded in the spectral content of the speckle pattern produced via a diffuser placed at the plane where the CDC is to be studied.

Intensity and Degree of Coherence of Vortex Beams in Atmospheric Turbulence

IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics
We utilize the Huygens-Fresnel principle to derive the mutual coherence function (MCF) for a vortex beam, which is the main focus of our investigation. Then, we examine the intensity and modulus of the complex degree of coherence (DOC) characteristics of

Experimental study: Underwater propagation of polarized flat top partially coherent laser beams with a varying degree of spatial coherence

Optics Communications, 2018
We report on experiments where spatially partially coherent laser beams with flat top intensity profiles were propagated underwater. Two scenarios were explored: still water and mechanically moved entrained salt scatterers.

Metrology of biological tissue coherent images by means of estimation of complex degree of mutual polarization

SPIE Proceedings, 2007
The paper presents the studies on correlation structure of biological tissues polarization images. The technique of polarization measurement of coordinate distribution of degree of mutual polarization has been proposed. The topological (singular) description of polarization inhomogeneous biological tissue images has been analyzed.

Relationships between the complex degrees of coherence in the space–time and in the space–frequency domains

Optics Letters, 1995
A relationship is established between two correlation coefficients (complex degrees of coherence) frequently used in the theory of partially coherent optical fields. One of them characterizes correlation in the space-time domain, the other in the space-frequency domain.

Mode effects of vibration on the complex degree of transverse spatial coherence in a multimode optical fiber

Optics Communications, 1988
Abstract The effects of vibration on the complex degree of transverse spatial coherence at the exit face of multimode optical fiber are investigated by utilizing a quasi-homogeneous source with a time-varying spatial stationary phase factor of mode-averaging.
