Waveguide Probes for Complex Permittivity Measurement

2008 14th Conference on Microwave Techniques, 2008
Paper deals with the complex permittivity measurement of biological tissues. Application of a waveguide probe for this measurement is shown. A non-destructive and non-invasive method based on reflection coefficient measurement attaching the material under test is used.

Complex permittivity measurements of chicken blood

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2003
AbstractThe basic dielectric properties of biological materials are required for the development of next‐generation microwave‐based medical instrumentation. The purpose of this paper is to further the study of the properties of blood using several different commonly used measurement methods.

The theories of complex permittivity

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1972
It is shown that the spectral density used by Scaife (1971) in his theory of complex permittivity is closely related to the autocorrelation function used by other authors and that both Scaife's equation and the equation in terms of autocorrelation functions follow immediately from the superposition principle.

Complex Permittivity Models of Composite Dielectrics

2007 IEEE International Conference on Solid Dielectrics, 2007
This paper deals with analytical simulations of behaviour of loss frequency-dependent composite dielectric. Several equations of dielectric mixture theory were verified and the results were compared with measured values of these materials, which were prepared in good accord with the theoretical model. The studied dielectric spectroscopy frequency range

Microwave Complex Permittivity of Rain Water

AMPC Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference,, 2005
The complex permittivity of rain water is needed for modelling the microwave propagation in rain . It is measured by the infinite line impedance technique. Accurate results are obtained if an error correcting scattering matrix is used to remove system errors. The results seem to agree with those calculated for distilled water.

A modified calibration method for complex permittivity measurement

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013
This work proposes a calibration method to determine the complex permittivity of materials based on the cavity-perturbation method. The method can characterize a sample with relative large in volume or high in dielectric constant, which significantly broadens the scope of the conventional perturbation method.

Measurement of complex permittivity and complex permeability of materials

12th International Conference on Microwaves and Radar. MIKON-98. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.98EX195), 2002
The time domain measurement of complex permittivity and complex permeability in the 8 to 18 GHz frequency band is considered. Some methods for determination of permittivity and permeability are presented.

Wideband Complex Permittivity Tester for 5G Materials

2018 48th European Microwave Conference (EuMC), 2018
Material characterization for 5G radio use is vital, because much lighter imperfections than previously can affect radio performance. One of the material types to be characterized are dielectrics. In this paper we propose a way to use absorbers to suppress unwanted test system resonances for circular disk test method of dielectrics.

Measurement of complex permittivity of liquids. II

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1974
Improvements on the method of Lovell and Cole (1959) for the measurement of complex permittivity of liquids by means of the Boonton R-X Meter are presented. A new approach to the calibration of the cell and connecting line, considering ohmic losses, is described.

Complex Permittivity of Rubber-Carbon Mixtures

IEEE Transactions on Electrical Insulation, 1979
This communication describes the complex permittivity of various mixtures of synthetic rubber and carbon (acetylene black, furnace black and channel black) in the microwave region. The effects of temperature on the complex permittivities are also noted for different concentrations of carbon.
