A potential LINC complex

2023
Apicomplexan parasites include some of the most important pathogens, such as Plasmodium spp., the causative agent of malaria, or Toxoplasma gondii, the causative agent of toxoplasmosis. As obligate intracellular parasites, Apicomplexa invade host cells in an active process, where they replicate within a parasitophorous vacuole, followed by egress and ...

Use of negative complex potential as absorbing potential

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1998
Exact numerical calculation shows that the use of negative complex potential (NCP) significantly improves the efficiency of wavefunction absorption over that of negative imaginary potential (NIP) in scattering applications. The improvement in absorption is especially significant in the case of low energy scattering with de Broglie wavelength larger ...

Orbital complexity in a time‐dependent potential

Astronomische Nachrichten, 2008
AbstractWe introduce a method to detect irregular or chaotic orbits in gravitational potentials based on a wavelet transform of stellar orbits. The method is based on a treatment of normalised frequency power‐spectrum coefficients, which we interpret as occupation probabilities (or, weights) of individual frequency modes.

Understanding complex perturbative effective potentials

Physical Review D, 1987
We examine the situation where the perturbatively calculated effective potential develops an imaginary part. We show that his imaginary part has a natural interpretation as a decay rate per unit volume of a well-defined state and that it agrees quantitatively with an independent calculation of this rate.

Method of continued fractions for complex potentials

Physical Review A, 1986
We show how a method of continued fractions of Hor\'ac\ifmmode \check{}\else \v{}\fi{}ek and Sasakawa for solving the Lippman-Schwinger equation for a local or nonlocal potential [Phys. Rev. A 30, 2274 (1984)] should be modified for the case of complex potentials. A nonlocal complex potential for the scattering of electrons from the helium atom is used

Potential Carcinostatic Activity of Metal Complexes

1978
For several years, there has been considerable controversy about the question of whether certain forms of cancer in humans are caused by viruses. Luria(1) indicated in 1960 that there was already considerable evidence that many tumors have viruses associated with them. In 1966, Kirschner et al.(2) proposed that certain complexes of the heavy transition

Streamfunction and Complex Potential

2007
The streamfunction is another mathematical construct that is of high importance for models using analytical solutions. Together with the potential the streamfunction enables the visualization of flow patterns that can hardly be produced by other methods.

Evoked potential analysis by complex demodulation

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1972
Abstract The method of the Fourier transform and that of complex demodulation are compared and contrasted, with special attention devoted to the question of frequency resolution. A computational method is described for complex demodulation. A discussion is given of the relevance of spectral analysis to the study of averaged (visual) evoked responses.

Anti-cancer potential of gold complexes

Inflammopharmacology, 2008
A full range of gold compounds is currently being investigated for their potential as anti-tumor agents. Gold(I) compounds related to the anti-arthritic drug continue to attract attention, especially those carrying biologically active molecules with anti-tumor activity in their own right.
