Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Kramers-Kronig relations and the properties of conductivity and permittivity in heterogeneous media

open access: yes, 2018
The macroscopic electric permittivity of a given medium may depend on frequency, but this frequency dependence cannot be arbitrary, its real and imaginary parts are related by the well-known Kramers-Kronig relations.

Multibit Ferroelectric HfZrO Memcapacitor for Non‐Volatile Analogue Memory and Reconfigurable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric memcapacitors enable non‐volatile, voltage‐programmable capacitance tuning for adaptive electronics. A TiN/HfZrO/TiN device stack demonstrates more than eight stable capacitance states within a 24 pF memory window in compact 60 ×$\times$ 60 μm2$\umu{\rm m}^{2}$ devices at low operating voltages.

Triblock Polymer Engineering Enables Hydration‐Rich, High‐Performance, Fouling‐Resistant Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A molecularly engineered triblock polymer (PHZ) rapidly reorganizes into a hydration‐rich interfacial layer on diverse surfaces, strongly suppressing hydrophobic attraction and fouling. The triblock polymer provides robust energy and steric barriers to oily foulants, enabling high‐performance antifouling at ultralow dosage.

Detection Limit for Optically Sensing Specific Protein Interactions in Free-solution

open access: yes, 2017
Optical molecular sensing techniques are often limited by the refractive index change associated with the probed interactions. In this work, we present a closed form analytical model to estimate the magnitude of optical refractive index change arising ...

Nonlocal Conduction in a Metawire

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
A 1D metawire composed of twisted copper wires is designed and realized. This metamaterial exhibits pronounced effects of nonlocal electric conduction according to Ohm's law. The current at one location not only depends on the electric field at that location but also on other locations.

Emergent Motility of Self‐Organized Particle‐Giant Unilamellar Vesicle Assembly

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs), when combined with silica particles under alternating electric fields, spontaneously self‐assemble into motile structures. Asymmetric particle decoration induces fluid flows that propel the assemblies, enabling persistent motion and reversible control.

Q factors for antennas in dispersive media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Stored energy and Q-factors are used to quantify the performance of small antennas. Accurate and efficient evaluation of the stored energy is also essential for current optimization and the associated physical bounds. Here, it is shown that the frequency
