Simpler Reference-Plane-Invariant Method for Permittivity Extraction of Medium- or Low-Loss Dielectric Samples Using One-Port Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Access
A microwave method is devised to extract relative complex permittivity ( $\varepsilon _{r}$ ) of medium- or low-loss dielectric samples. It is simpler, non-iterative, reference-plane-invariant (RPI), and applicable for one-port waveguide measurements ...

Metal Oxide Nano‐Interface Boosting the Deep Ultraviolet Adjustable Noise‐Filtering In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We show that sol‐gel‐fractured indium–magnesium oxide combines deep‐ultraviolet responsivity, high carrier mobility, and an excellent memory dynamic range. This unique materials platform enables deep‐ultraviolet long‐afterglow light‐emitting devices with multifunctional integration.

Error Analysis and Correction of Relative Permittivity Measured by Three-electrode System

open access: yes, 2018
To improve the accuracy of the measured relative permittivity based on three-electrode system, a three-dimensional model for relative permittivity measurement is established and solved with consideration of real electrode system’s material properties and

Electrolyte Design for Fast‐Charging Lithium‐Based Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A decade of progress in fast‐charging electrolytes for lithium batteries is reviewed. Electrolyte design strategies spanning solvents, salts, additives, and advanced systems, such as localized high‐concentration electrolytes (LHCEs), are summarized. Advanced diagnostic tools for lithium plating and interphase chemistry are discussed, with perspectives ...

Measurement of relative permittivity of LTCC ceramic at different temperatures

open access: yes, 2014
Devices based on LTCC (low-temperature co-fired ceramic) technology are more widely applied in high temperature environments, and the temperature-dependent properties of the LTCC material play an important role in measurements of the characteristics of ...

Confinement‐Induced Donnan Potential Enables Sealed Hydrovoltaic Power From Microliter Water

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ultrathin MXene/cellulose nanofiber (CNF) nanochannel‐based hydrovoltaic generator produces sustained direct current (DC) from a single microliter droplet under sealed operation. Asymmetric nanochannel confinement establishes a persistent ion gradient and a confinement‐induced Donnan potential, harvesting the interfacial free energy released upon ...

Defect‐Engineered Microwave‐Responsive Ni@C Composites From Waste PET for Catalytic Plastic Upcycling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A circular upcycling strategy transforms waste poly(ethylene terephthalate) bottles into microwave‐responsive Ni@C catalyst featuring lattice‐distorted nickel cores and defective carbon shells. These strain‐rich heterointerfaces enhance dielectric loss and promote localized microwave hotspots, accelerating peroxymonosulfate activation and polymer‐chain

Bounds on the complex permittivity of sea ice [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
journal articleAn analytic method for obtaining bounds on effective properties of composites is applied to the complex permittivity e* of sea ice. The sea ice is assumed to be a two-component random medium consisting of pure ice of permittivity e1, and ...

A Universal van der Waals Tunneling Injector for Monolayer CMOS

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A universal van der Waals injector unlocks polarity‐flexible tunneling contacts for monolayer CMOS. SnSe2, an intrinsically degenerate 2D semiconductor, establishes polarity‐specific band alignments with both WSe2 and MoS2 channels, enabling steep switching, high on/off ratios, and a unified route to low‐power 2D logic.
