Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Application of the Complex Variable Semi-analytical Method for Improved Displacement Sensitivity Evaluation in Geometrically Nonlinear Truss Problems

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Solids and Structures
The application of gradient-based methods to structural optimization problems usually requires the determination of displacement sensitivities with respect to design variables.

Multiple ETS family transcription factors bind mutant p53 via distinct interaction regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mutant p53 gain‐of‐function is thought to be mediated by interaction with other transcription factors. We identify multiple ETS transcription factors that can bind mutant p53 and found that this interaction can be promoted by a PXXPP motif. ETS proteins that strongly bound mutant p53 were upregulated in ovarian cancer compared to ETS proteins that ...

Safe Trajectory Planning for Incremental Robots Based on a Spatiotemporal Variable-Step-Size A* Algorithm

open access: yesSensors
In this paper, a planning method based on the spatiotemporal variable-step-size A* algorithm is proposed to address the problem of safe trajectory planning for incremental, wheeled, mobile robots in complex motion scenarios with multiple robots.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Study on the Fault Diagnosis of Variable Speed Gearbox based on Improved Order Analysis and Adaptive VMD

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2021
Due to the complex operating conditions of the gearbox with variable speed, the frequency of the gearbox is unstable, the weak fault signal of the gear box may be hidden in the strong noise, it is not possible to directly apply the traditional time ...

Complex Variable Method in Solving Singular Stress Field

open access: yesDEStech Transactions on Computer Science and Engineering, 2018
The analytic function of complex variable including a material parameter is analyzed fully. Typical model II crack is considered to orthotropic materials. By constructing new stress function, the mechanic analysis for crack-tip singular stress field is carried out. Boundary problems are studied and the formulae for stress fields are derived.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
