Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Optimal Lattice-Reduction Aided Successive Interference Cancellation for MIMO Systems

open access: yes, 2007
In this letter, we investigated the optimal minimum mean-squared-error (MMSE) based successive interference cancellation (SIC) strategy designed for lattice-reduction aided multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) detectors.

Low complexity algorithm for PAPR reduction in GFDM system

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2021
In order to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and the implementation complexity of generalized frequency division multiplexing (GFDM) system, the TSLM algorithm based on T-transform and selective mapping (SLM) was proposed. The design idea of ...

Reduction of complex HamiltonianG-spaces

open access: yesGeometric and Functional Analysis, 1994
Let \((X,\omega)\) be a Kähler space, in the sense that \(X\) is a complex space with an open cover \((U_ \alpha)\) and \(\omega\) is a family of continuous strictly plurisubharmonic functions \(\varphi_ \alpha : U_ \alpha \to \mathbb{R}\) such that there are \(f_{\alpha \beta} \in {\mathcal O}(U_ \alpha\cap U_ \beta)\) whose real parts equal ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

COMPLEXITY REDUCED MULTIPATH MITIGATION IN GNSS WITH THE GRANADA BIT-TRUE SOFTWARE RECEIVER

open access: yes, 2008
The estimation of several unknown channel amplitudes and taps in a multipath environment is an important problem when designing positioning receivers.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Reduced-Complexity Deterministic Annealing for Vector Quantizer Design

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2005
This paper presents a reduced-complexity deterministic annealing (DA) approach for vector quantizer (VQ) design by using soft information processing with simplified assignment measures.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Explanation in Biology: Reduction, Pluralism, and Explanatory Aims [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This essay analyzes and develops recent views about explanation in biology. Philosophers of biology have parted with the received deductive-nomological model of scientific explanation primarily by attempting to capture actual biological theorizing and ...
