Rotor point compliance minimization via /spl mu/-synthesis

Proceedings of the 1997 American Control Conference (Cat. No.97CH36041), 1997
Many practical problems in magnetic bearing control concern essentially the minimization of the compliance of the rotor at a particular point, often not a bearing or sensor location. Experimental results are presented which demonstrate that controller design problems of this type can be tackled via /spl mu/-synthesis. The problem of minimizing the peak

Compliance Minimization of Two-Material Elastic Structures

2014
Minimum compliance problem set for a structure made of two elastic, isotropic materials is tackled in this paper. The relaxation by homogenization technique is used for obtaining its mathematically well-posed formulation. The problem is first discussed in general two-material context.

Minimizing Information Content of a Design using Compliance Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This study shows that to minimize the information content at an early stage of a design process, three types of compliance are required, namely range, certainty, and requirement compliances. Range compliance measures the average belongingness of a numerical range to a vague linguistic class.

Minimal doses of digoxin: A new marker for compliance to medication

European Heart Journal, 1987
A direct and objective method of measuring compliance to medication is presented. Digoxin is used as a marker in capsules of either gemfibrozil or placebo with a minimal dose of 4.4 micrograms twice a day. Compliance is estimated by measuring the ratio of urinary digoxin to creatinine concentration. By choosing two cut-off points of this ratio patients

Minimal intervention and arthritis treatment: Implications for patient and physician compliance

Arthritis & Rheumatism, 1989
AbstractA rationale based on a public health perspective for using minimal intervention programs in the treatment of arthritis is presented. Minimal interventions are relatively inexpensive, relatively free from side effects, and produce therapeutic effects that range from statistically significant to clinically important.

Optimal Fine‐Scale Structures in Compliance Minimization for a Shear Load

Communications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, 2015
AbstractWe return to a classic problem of structural optimization whose solution requires microstructure. It is well‐known that perimeter penalization assures the existence of an optimal design. We are interested in the regime where the perimeter penalization is weak; i.e., in the effect of perimeter as a selection mechanism in structural optimization.

Minimal compliance design for metal–ceramic composites with lamellar microstructures

Acta Materialia, 2011
Metal–ceramic composites produced by melt infiltration of ceramic preforms are studied in an optimal design context. The ceramic preforms are manufactured through a process of freeze-casting of Al2O3 particle suspension. The microstructure of these composites can be presented as distributions of lamellar domains.

Rotor compliance minimization via μ-control of active magnetic bearings

IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, 2002
Many important problems in the control of rotating machinery with active magnetic bearings (AMBs) concern the minimization of the dynamic compliance of the rotor at a single or several shaft locations which typically do not correspond to those of a sensor or actuator.

Control of Current Compliance in Rram: Optimized Vs. Minimized Parasitics

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2018
Current overshoot during forming/SET of RRAM devices is frequently considered one of the key factors contributing to variation of the formed filament [1,2,4,5]. It is generally believed that to minimize variation, the current overshoot should be controlled by minimizing the device parasitics [2,4,5].

Resistance training and arterial compliance: keeping the benefits while minimizing the stiffening

Journal of Hypertension, 2006
This study aimed to determine the effects of moderate resistance training as well as the combined resistance and aerobic training intervention on carotid arterial compliance.Resistance training has become a popular mode of exercise, but intense weight training is shown to stiffen carotid arteries.Thirty-nine young healthy men were assigned either to ...
