Dietary resilience of coral reef fishes to habitat degradation

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 95, Issue 3, Page 397-417, March 2026.
Metabarcoding of gut contents shows that two common benthic‐feeding reef fishes with different feeding stratgies—a butterflyfish (Chaetodon capistratus) and a hamlet (Hypoplectrus puella)—shift diets on degraded reefs. These shifts mirror contrasting patterns in body condition: butterflyfish showed strong individual variation, whereas condition was ...

COMPOSICIÓN QUÃMICA, DEGRADACIÓN IN SITU E IN VITRO DE Kochia scoparia CON RELACIÓN A LA FECHA DE SIEMBRA Y EDAD DE CORTE

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2011

Soil Properties and Plant Species Identity Independently Influence Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungal Composition Across Lowland Tropical Forests

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We found that plant species identity and soil properties, especially soil phosphorus availability, independently structured arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) community composition in tropical forests across central Panama. We also found that soil nutrient availability may mediate the interaction networks between plants and AMF. ABSTRACT Plant species

Aerial art, the new landscape of Robert Smithson

open access: yesJournal of Architecture and Urbanism, 2019
Aircraft were to play a decisive role in the short career of Robert Smithson. In 1969, when he published his article Aerial Art, Walther Prokosch, an architect specializing in aviation, put him in contact with TAMS engineering.

ACTIVIDAD ANTIMICROBIANA Y COMPOSICIÓN QUÃMICA DE LOS ACEITES ESENCIALES DE Malvaviscus arboreus Cav, Pimenta dioica (L.) Merr., Byrsonima crassifolia (L.) Kunth Y Psidium guajava L.

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2013

Nocturnal Gardeners: Dispersal of Large Seeds by Tent‐Roosting Bats in the Lacandon Rainforest, Mexico

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
Tent‐roosting bats in the Lacandon Forest, Mexico, play a previously undocumented role in dispersing large seeds (> 5 mm) from mature forest species with important ecological and human uses. Sampling 21 feeding tents across two protected areas yielded 2137 seeds from 54 species, with seed deposition rates significantly higher under bat tents than in ...

MODELACIÓN DE CURVAS DE PRODUCCIÓN Y COMPOSICIÓN DE LA LECHE EN UN HATO DE CABRAS F1 ALPINA x NUBIA EN SAN LUIS POTOSÃ, MÉXICO

open access: yesTropical and Subtropical Agroecosystems, 2009

Trees Inside and Outside of Forests in Guanacaste, Costa Rica: Comparisons Among Conservation Areas, Fencerows, and Urban Parks

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We compared the abundance and characteristics of trees in replicated plots across a rural to urban gradient in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Trees in urban parks, fencerows, and national parks provide complementary benefits and have distinct compositions.

Low abundance of phytophagous nematodes under invasive exotic Pinus elliottii – enemy release and plant–soil feedbacks

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 3060-3071, March 2026.
Summary According to the enemy release hypothesis (ERH), the fitness of exotic plants and their capacity to become invasive in their area of introduction may partly be attributable to the loss of their natural enemies. Invasive species may also benefit from modifying soil attributes and thereby creating a positive soil–plant feedback.

Recovering a thatched earthen hut in the lagoon of Valencia

open access: yesBuilt Heritage
The Valencia Lagoon has been home to vernacular constructions built with the mud and fibres available in these wetlands since ancient times. They are probably the last evolved vestiges of the primitive prehistoric huts that populated this place and the ...
