Adsorptive Removal of Volatile Organic Compounds from Industrial Effluent Using Synthesized ZnO-CA Composite Base Adsorbent

open access: yesJournal of the Turkish Chemical Society, Section A: Chemistry
In this study, a composite adsorbent consisting of ZnO nanoparticles and cellulose acetate nanoparticles was prepared. The composite was extensively characterized through Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Energy ...

Sorption isotherms and characteristics of U(VI) ion onto composite adsorbent

open access: yes, 2011
The adsorption of U(VI) from aqueous solutions onto composite adsorbent (Gumalgin Cromatic) has been studied using a batch adsorber. The parameters that affect the U(VI) sorption, such as contact time, solution pH, initial U(VI) concentration, and ...

Lewis Acid Site Engineering in MOF‐Derived Aluminum Oxide/Carbon Composites for Dechlorination of Waste Plastic Pyrolysis Oil

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled carbonization of an Al‐MOF partially decomposes its linkers, exposing coordinatively unsaturated Al centers within an oxide/carbon composite. The resulting Lewis acid sites, rather than surface area, govern organochlorine capture: the composite removes chemically diverse organochlorines from waste plastic pyrolysis oil, outperforms a ...

Reversible Calcium Alloying on Bulk and Indium (Sub)‐Micro Negative Electrodes for Calcium‐Based Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Description: Indium metal serves as a reversible calcium‐alloying negative electrode. By transitioning from planar electrodes to powders and (sub‐)micron indium particles, the specific surface area is increased, improving the areal capacity density and cycling stability for calcium‐based batteries.

Glutaraldehyde crosslinked chitosan-β-cyclodextrin/ZnO composite for the effective adsorption of Congo red anionic dye: A glimpse into adsorption performance and ANN modeling

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications
Removal of azo dyes is of great concern because of their large contribution in dye industry and persistent toxic nature. Congo red (CR), an anionic azo dye, poses significant environmental hazards to aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

Stabilization of Strongly Reduced Fe(I) Single Atom Species Coordinated in a 2D Self‐Assembled Metal–Organic Network

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A graphene‐supported 2D metal–organic network stabilizes highly reactive Fe(I)‐N4 single sites through Co‐induced charge redistribution. Combined experiments and theory reveal Fe(I) formation, oxygen‐driven oxidation, and O2 activation mechanisms, offering a strategy to access low‐valent iron centers relevant to catalytic and biological processes ...

Engineering a Fluorinated AlPO4 Interface: Toward High Initial Coulombic Efficiency and Stable Oxygen Redox in Li‐Rich Layered Oxide Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a chemically incorporated fluorinated AlPO4 (AlPO4‐F) architecture that functions as a multifunctional “interfacial fortress” for Li‐rich layered oxides (LLOs). By modulating the surface potential to –32.16 mV, this architecture enriches Li+ concentration and repels detrimental electrolyte anions.

Decoupling Li+ Transport in Self‐Healing Polymer Dual‐Salt Electrolytes for Room Temperature Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A self‐healable polymer matrix, crosslinked via dynamic imine bonds, is synergistically coupled with a LiPF6–LiDFOB dual‐salt system to decouple Li+ from the polymer matrix, enabling fast Li+ transport. This strategy offers an effective pathway toward high‐performance, next‐generation gel‐polymer‐based Li‐metal batteries.

Effect of pore size on the performance of composite adsorbent

open access: yes, 2013
Three kinds of commercial silica gels with pore size of 2-3, 4-7 and 8-10 nm respectively are used for preparing composite adsorbents by soaking them into the aqueous solution of calcium chloride.
