Free vibration of a micro-scale composite laminated Reddy plate using a finite element method based on the new modified couple stress theory

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
In this study, a non-confirming element which is a combination of the BCIZ and refined triangular non-conforming element is developed for the free vibration analysis of micro-scale angle-ply laminated Reddy plate based on the new modified couple stress ...

Compositional shape analysis

open access: yes, 2008
This paper describes a compositional shape analysis, where each procedure is analyzed independently of its callers. The analysis uses an abstract domain based on a restricted fragment of separation logic, and assigns a collection of Hoare triples to each procedure; the triples provide an over-approximation of data structure usage.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Compositional performance analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Recent extensions to process algebras can be used to describe performance or error rate properties of systems. We examine an abstract approach to the representation of time costs within these algebras that permits the efficient calculation of performance bounds on systems.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Study on mode-I fracture toughness of composite laminates with curved plies applied by automated fiber placement

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
Interlaminar fracture toughness is an important parameter to characterize the delamination performance of carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy laminates. In this study, the mode-I fracture toughness of interlaminar interfaces with different local ply angles ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative
