Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

MODIFICATION OF COMPOSITE MIXTURES FOR MANUFACTURING SHIP CABLEWARE MATERIALS

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2017
The purpose of this work was to develop a modified polymeric composite mixture for the manufacture of the outer shell of a ship's cable operating under conditions of aggressive environment and increased fire hazard. The performed research resulted in the

Crosslinking starch/oat hull mixtures for use in composites with PLA [PDF]

open access: yesPolímeros, 2019
Modification of composite components has been proposed as a tool to improve their functional properties. The present work studied crosslinking of a starch/oat hull mixture by reactive extrusion with sodium trimetaphosphate (STMP), for application in ...

A generalized mixture rule for estimating the viscosity of solid-liquid suspensions and mechanical properties of polyphase rocks and composite materials

open access: yes, 2004
A simple phenomenological formula is proposed to predict the mechanical properties of isotropic multiphase materials in terms of component properties, volume fractions, and microstructures.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Experimental analysis, predictive modelling and optimization of some physical and mechanical properties of aluminium 6063 alloy based composites reinforced with corn cob ash.

open access: yesJournal of Materials and Engineering Structures, 2020
In the present work, aluminium alloy 6063 reinforced with various weight percentages of corncob ash (CCA) particles (2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5% and 15%) were prepared using stir casting process.

Insights into the mechanism of phenolic mixture degradation by catalytic ozonation with a mesoporous Fe3O4/MnO2 composite

open access: yes, 2016
A mesoporous Fe-3/MnO2 composite was fabricated by a co-precipitation method in this paper, and it showed a much higher activity than Fe3O4 and MnO2 in the catalytic ozonation of a p-cresol and p-chlorophenol mixture.

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Autophagy and mitophagy in pancreatic β‐cell homeostasis and their involvement in diabetes pathophysiology

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.
