Design and technologies for a smart composite bridge
Proceedings. The 7th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (IEEE Cat. No.04TH8749), 2005An all-composite, smart bridge design for shortspan applications is described. The bridge dimensions are 9.14-m (30-ft.) long and 2.74-m (9-ft.) wide. A modular construction based on assemblies of pultruded fiber-reinforced-polymer (FRP) composite tubes is used to meet American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) H20 ...

Strengthening Bridges by Developing Composite Action in Existing Non-Composite Bridge Girders
Structural Engineering International, 2009A number of older bridges are constructed with floor systems consisting of a non-composite concrete slab over steel girders. A potentially economical means of strengthening these floor systems is to connect the existing concrete slab and steel girders to permit the development of composite action.

Sustainable bridges – LCA for a composite and a concrete bridge
2014Life Cycle Assessment addresses the environmental impacts of a product’s life cycle, from raw material extraction through production, use and end-of-life. In this paper, we apply this standardized method to two bridges: one designed as a composite bridge and one as a prestressed concrete bridge.

An adhesive or resin-bonded bridge is a tooth saving construction for the replacement of a lost tooth, especially when the abutment teeth are relatively sound. In this article an overview is presented of the different types of resin-bonded bridges, their advantages and disadvantages and their indications.

Composites: Bridges to the Future
Processing, Design, and Performance of Composite Materials, 1994Abstract Successful processing, design, and performance of composite materials in any actual application build upon many ingredients. These range from fundamental understanding of the thermal and material response during processing, through micromechanical laminate behavior, to programmatic and economic decisions to utilize a ...

The aesthetic composite bridge.
Practical periodontics and aesthetic dentistry : PPAD, 1998New developments are constantly introduced in the search for the optimal treatment modality to restore a single anterior tooth. The patient attention has shifted to aesthetics of the restoration, biocompatibility of the dental materials utilized, conservative preparation of the teeth to be restored, and the retention of intact adjacent dentition.

AbstractThis chapter discusses the idea of bridges to free composition through several stylistic contexts. The chapter looks at Corelli, J.S. Bach, Schubert, Chopin, Mahler, and Richard Strauss. It shows that these bridges connect the structures of an actual composition with a set of models or proto-structures.

ON BRIDGE NUMBERS OF COMPOSITE RIBBON KNOTS
Journal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 2000Bleiler and Eudave-Muñoz showed that composite ribbon number one knots have two-bridge summands. In this paper, we show that there exists an infinite family of composite ribbon number one knots which have arbitrary large bridge numbers.
