Strip loading in reinforced concrete: Mechanical modeling and experimental validation

open access: yesStructural Concrete, Volume 27, Issue 1, Page 163-192, February 2026.
Abstract Strip loading of reinforced concrete is a common problem in engineering practice. The concrete compressive strength at the load introduction can be several times higher than the uniaxial concrete compressive strength, which can be attributed to geometrical and passive confining stresses caused by load dispersion and reinforcement, respectively.

Experimental investigations and design of precast concrete‐filled steel corrugated sheet slender columns with intermediate connection

open access: yesStructural Concrete, Volume 27, Issue 1, Page 193-210, February 2026.
Abstract Concrete‐filled steel corrugated sheet (CFSCS) offers confinement to the core concrete while the outer galvanized corrugated steel sheet (GCSS) offers excellent corrosion resistance. Application of precast multiple CFSCS columns connected through high‐performance concrete (HPC) in constructing a slender column offers ease of construction while

Micrography and XRF Techniques to Investigate Protohistoric Gold Artifacts: The Case of Roca Vecchia (Lecce, Italy)

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 1, Page 51-63, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Protohistoric gold findings from the archaeological site of Roca Vecchia (Melendugno, Lecce, Italy) are analyzed involving micrography and stratified XRF analysis. This exploitation allows to get a deeper insight into ancient gold manufacturing and wear processes adopted in the Southern Italian FBA.

Dual‐mode strategy for sintering‐stability and bonding of SLA additively manufactured ceramic green bodies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 1, February 2026.
This study introduces a dual‐mode green‐state strategy for stereolithography‐based ceramic additive manufacturing. In the first mode, UV‐curable resin‐assisted bonding enables the assembly of monolithic ceramic architectures, expanding design freedom.

Entangled Multistable Origami with Reprogrammable Stiffness Amplification and Damping

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 5, 15 January 2026.
This study introduces a class of origami‐inspired metamaterials that overcome the limitations of existing multistable metamaterials by eliminating the need for rigid lateral confinements. Panel entanglement, snap‐through interactions, and instabilities synergy enable them to achieve extensive shape‐shifting, enhanced stiffness, and remarkable energy ...

Water Parameters and Hydrodynamics in Rivers and Caves Hosting Astyanax mexicanus Populations Reveal Macro‐, Meso‐ and Microhabitat Characteristics

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
From 2009 to 2025, we have recorded the physicochemical parameters of the water and the hydrological regimes at localities hosting Astyanax mexicanus cavefish and surface fish populations in Mexico. Sampling 13 caves and 30 surface stations revealed strong signatures of the two macrohabitats, but also significant differences in specific water ...

The floodplain wood budget: Linking wood dynamics and ecogeomorphic processes

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 1, January 2026.
Understanding floodplain wood transport, deposition and storage is necessary to fully close wood budgets in river corridors (the channel, floodplain and hyporheic zone). We review current understanding of wood dynamics in floodplains using a floodplain wood budget to highlight the processes that change floodplain wood storage, and we summarise ...

Composite Resins for Dowel-Cores. Part V. Dual-cured Type of Composite Resin.

open access: yesNihon Hotetsu Shika Gakkai Zasshi, 1993
Both visible light and chemical cured composite resins have been used in practice for rebuilding of the endodontically treated tooth. In this study, a new type of curing method, dual cure, was fundamentally evaluated. After the irradiation of light to the dual-cured and light-cured resin specimens, their degree of conversion were measured at several ...

Effect of Edge Banding Thickness, Dowels, and Adhesive Types on Withdrawal Strength in Oriented Strand Board

open access: yesBioResources
Composite materials, edge banding, and wooden dowels are being used in inner decorations and the construction of furniture frames. However, there is little information available concerning the withdrawal strength of various fasteners and in particular ...
