ABSTRACT Background Combined oral contraceptive (COC) use in obese adult women dramatically increases the relative risk of developing a pulmonary embolism (PE). The risk of a PE in obese adolescent females taking contraceptives is currently unknown. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) and contraceptive

Effective Governing Equations for Viscoelastic Composites
We derive the governing equations for the overall behaviour of linear viscoelastic composites comprising two families of elastic inclusions, subphases and/or fibres, and an incompressible Newtonian fluid interacting with the solid phases at the microscale.

The Effect of Blood Composition on T1 Mapping [PDF]
Native myocardial T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging are key biomarkers for assessing several heart muscle diseases. Their measurement, however, is influenced by blood T1, either due to myocardial vascular blood volume or via blood pool partial voluming.

ABSTRACT Background Cerebellar ataxia after pediatric brain tumor treatment can cause persistent gait, balance, and speech impairment, yet no established rehabilitation strategy exists. Somato‐cognitive coordination therapy (SCCT) is a virtual reality–guided intervention designed to promote sensorimotor integration through visually constrained reaching

Cytotoxic effect of polyvinyl alcohol-magnetite composite
Polymeric hydrogel is a promising candidate for drug delivery applications due to its ability to encapsulate and release drugs. Incorporating magnetic particles enables controlled and specific release, providing sustained and targeted delivery.

ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, with an overall survival now surpassing 90% in developed countries. However, treatments are not without adverse effects. In this study, we apply the severe toxicity‐free survival (STFS) framework to determine the prevalence of 21 physician‐defined severe ...

THE EFFECTS OF IMAGE COMPOSITION ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VISUAL ADVERTISEMENTS
Images are an integral part of any visual advertisement, regardless of medium. Whether online banner, digital screen, or wall poster, the decisions of professional designers on how to compose those images are often based on specific rules of composition that describe proper cropping or object placement techniques.

Compositeness effects in the Bose–Einstein condensation [PDF]
Small deviations from purely bosonic behavior of trapped atomic Bose-Einstein condensates are investigated with the help of the quon algebra, which interpolates between bosonic and fermionic statistics. A previously developed formalism is employed to obtain a generalized version of the Gross-Pitaeviskii equation.

ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.
