Composite Hurwitz Rings Satisfying the Ascending Chain Condition on Principal Ideals

open access: yes, 2016
Let D ⊆ E be an extension of integral domains with characteristic zero, I be a nonzero proper ideal of D and let H(D,E) and H(D, I) (resp., h(D,E) and h(D, I)) be composite Hurwitz series rings (resp., composite Hurwitz polynomial rings).

Changes in support for free speech and hate speech restrictions: Cohort, aging, and period effects among ethnic minority and majority group members

open access: yesPolitical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract How do attitudes toward free speech and hate speech restrictions change across the adult lifespan? The current research utilizes data from five annual waves of longitudinal data from 2019 to 2024 (N > 50,000) to examine the extent to which cohort, period, and age effects contribute to changes in attitudes toward free speech and hate speech ...

Traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms for GL2(Fq[T])$\operatorname{GL}_2(\mathbb {F}_q[T])$

open access: yesMathematika, Volume 72, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract In this paper, we study traces of Hecke operators on Drinfeld modular forms of level 1 in the case A=Fq[T]$A = \mathbb {F}_q[T]$. We deduce closed‐form expressions for traces of Hecke operators corresponding to primes of degree at most 2 and provide algorithms for primes of higher degree.

Modeling Airborne Influenza in Three Dimensions

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
A novel 3D fluid dynamics model demonstrates how influenza outbreaks spread spatially via “epidemic flow.” Simulations reveal that direct contact is the dominant transmission route over aerosol spread, offering a new tool to inform targeted public health interventions and spatially‐aware risk assessment.

Quantifying Gas and Thermal Energy Emissions in an Active Geothermal Area: Insights From Le Biancane (Larderello Field, Italy)

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The Larderello‐Travale area in the northern Apennines of Italy hosts the world's oldest exploited geothermal field. Its success lies primarily in the presence of an extraordinary geothermal resource housed in a large vapor‐dominated fractured reservoir that produces superheated steam.

A Mathematical Theory of the Topological Vertex

open access: yes, 2007
We have developed a mathematical theory of the topological vertex--a theory that was original proposed by M. Aganagic, A. Klemm, M. Marino, and C.

Antitrust for the fintech era

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, Volume 63, Issue 1, Page 57-78, Spring 2026.
Abstract The emerging relationship between fintechs and banks has revealed antitrust's antiquation. At one time, scholars predicted that fintechs could democratize banking while providing a critical source of competition. But then banks began to acquire their digital rivals: about 900 acquisitions of fintechs have taken place since 2021.

Derived splinters in positive characteristic

open access: yes, 2011
This paper introduces the notion of a derived splinter. Roughly speaking, a scheme is a derived splinter if it splits off from the coherent cohomology of any proper cover.

Mating parabolic rational maps with Hecke groups

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 132, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We prove that any degree d$d$ rational map having a parabolic fixed point of multiplier 1 with a fully invariant and simply connected immediate basin of attraction is mateable with the Hecke group Hd+1$\mathcal {H}_{d+1}$, with the mating realised by an algebraic correspondence.
