Liquid chromatography-proton nuclear-magnetic-resonance spectrometry average-composition analysis of fuels

Analytical Chemistry, 1983
The use of a NMR spectrometer as a continuous flow liquid chromatographic detector (LC//sup 1/H NMR) generates a proton spectrum of each hydrocarbon class present in the sample. A detailed set of equations is presented which permits LC//sup 1/H NMR integration data from petroleum fuels to be interpreted as an average composition for each ...

Carbonate-tin composite liquid anode for solid oxide direct carbon fuel cell

International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2017
Abstract The SnO2 blocking film deposited on the anode-electrolyte interface during operation degrades the performance of a liquid tin (Sn) anode direct carbon fuel cell (DCFC). In the present study, Li–K carbonate is introduced to solve the SnO2 problem. A composite anode composed of molten carbonate and Sn was fabricated.

Novel Composite Membranes Based on Polyaniline/Ionic Liquids for PEM Fuel Cells Applications

Key Engineering Materials, 2020
The modern development of (PEMFCs) is still faced by several obstacles such as membrane cost and performance. Perfluorosulfonic acid membranes (e.g. Nafion of DuPont) are currently the most successful in PEMFCs. PEMFCs usually operate at temperatures around 80°C and at atmospheric pressure.

Ceramic Matrix Composite Applications in Advanced Liquid Fuel Rocket Engine Turbomachinery

Volume 5: Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Ceramics; Structures and Dynamics; Controls, Diagnostics and Instrumentation; Education, 1992
Hot gas path components of current generation, liquid fuel rocket engine turbopumps (T/P) are exposed to severe thermal shock, extremely high heat fluxes, corrosive atmospheres and erosive flows. These conditions, combined with high operating stresses, are severely degradative to conventional materials.

Differences in the ignition characteristics of coal–water slurries and composite liquid fuel

Solid Fuel Chemistry, 2016
The processes of the inert heating, ignition, and combustion of the drops of typical coal–water slurries and promising composite liquid fuel were experimentally studied with the use of high-speed (to 105 frame/s) video recording facilities. The particles of brown and black coals with of sizes 80–100 μm were used as the basic components of the coal ...

Determination of liquid and solid phase composition in partially frozen middle distillate fuels

Fuel, 1987
Abstract A liquid-solid separator apparatus was constructed and a method developed for the separation and characterization (g.c.-m.s.) of the crystals and liquid from partially frozen middle distillate fuels. The filtrate data were straightforward, but the precipitate presented problems in interpretation since the waxy crystals entrapped significant ...

Experimental Investigation on The Influence of Liquid Fuels Composition on The Operational Characteristics of The Liquid Fueled Resonant Pulse Combustor

2018
In this study, the response of a liquid-fueled resonant pulse combustor to changes in liquid fuel composition was investigated. Experiments were performed with gasoline- ethanol, gasoline-diesel, and gasoline-heptane mixtures selected to produce meaningful variations in the ignition delay time. A review of ignition quality tester (IQT) data provided an

Puffing/micro-explosion of two-liquid droplets: Effect of fuel shell composition

Physics of Fluids
Theoretical research into the heat and mass transfer, hydrodynamic and physicochemical processes in combustion chambers of gas turbine engines usually implies that multi-component jet fuels are modeled using single-component liquids (saturated or cyclic hydrocarbons) and their substitutes.

Effect of Gas Diffusion Layer Composition on the Performance of Liquid Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

ECS Transactions, 2009
The effect of gas diffusion layer compositions on the performance of liquid feed direct methanol fuel cell has been investigated. Cathode diffusion layers consisting of carbon paper with different microporous layer compositions have been fabricated. Specifically, we have modified the carbon material used in microporous layers.

Modelling pressure distribution and anode/cathode streams vapour–liquid equilibrium composition in liquid feed direct methanol fuel cells

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2000
A model is presented to predict the local pressure and chemical composition in the anode and cathode sides of a liquid feed direct methanol fuel cell. The model is based on the homogeneous two-phase flow theory and mass conservation equation, which describes the hydraulic behaviour of an experimental large cell.
