High Strain Rate Response of Adhesively Bonded Fiber-Reinforced Composite Joints A Computational Study to Guide Experimental Design [PDF]

open access: yes
Adhesively bonded carbon fiber-reinforced epoxy composite laminates are widely used in aerospace applications. During a high energy impact event, these laminates are often subjected to high strain rate loading.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Dynamic Modeling and Vibration Response Analysis of Rolling Bearings With Composite Faults Considering the Influence of Elastohydrodynamic Lubrication

open access: yesShock and Vibration
At present, in the dynamic modeling of rolling bearings with composite faults, Hertz contact theory is mostly used to describe the contact between the rolling element and the raceway, while ignoring the influence of lubricating oil film under ...

Model Composition Directives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
An aspect-oriented design model consists of a set of aspect models and a primary model. Each of these models consists of a number of different kinds of UML diagrams. The models must be composed to identify conflicts and analyze the system as a whole.

On the use of Structural Equation Models and PLS Path Modeling to build composite indicators [PDF]

open access: yes
Nowadays there is a pre-eminent need to measure very complex phenomena like poverty, progress, well-being, etc. As is well known, the main feature of a composite indicator is that it summarizes complex and multidimensional issues. Thanks to its features,

Testing statistical bounds on entanglement using quantum chaos

open access: yes, 2002
Previous results indicate that while chaos can lead to substantial entropy production, thereby maximizing dynamical entanglement, this still falls short of maximality.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Experimental Study on the Force Mechanism of Internal Composite Connectors in Steel–Concrete Composite Sections of Bridge Towers

open access: yesBuildings
Current research on the stress mechanisms of composite connectors within steel–concrete structures of bridge towers is sparse, and there is a lack of established experimental methods and finite element modeling techniques for studying these mechanisms ...
