Blast response of double curvature, composite sandwich shallow shells [PDF]
Abstract An analytical model was developed for predicting the blast response of a double-curvature, composite sandwich shallow shell with PVC foam core. Based on Donnell’s nonlinear shallow shell formulation, the PVC foam core was modeled with isotropic and transversely isotropic elastic–plastic properties.

A quasi-3D theory for vibration and buckling of functionally graded sandwich beams [PDF]
This paper presents a finite element model for free vibration and buckling analyses of functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams by using a quasi-3D theory in which both shear deformation and thickness stretching effects are included.

ECO-TECHNIQUE OF SEWER RENOVATION USING COMPOSITE SHELLS: STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
An eco-technical renovation of the sewage system is developed in this paper; this technique involves incorporating into the existing sewer a series of jointed prefabricated sandwich or composite shells.

Static inconsistencies in certain axiomatic higher-order shear deformation theories for beams, plates and shells [PDF]
Static inconsistencies that arise when modelling the flexural behaviour of beams, plates and shells with clamped boundary conditions using a certain class of axiomatic, higher-order shear deformation theory are discussed.

Weight-based optimization of sandwich shelled composite structures with a honeycomb filler
Sandwich multi-compartment shelled structures with load-bearing skins from polymer composite materials and honeycomb filler are widely used in products of different classes of equipment. This type of structures makes it possible to realize one of the highest indicators of specific strength and stiffness at minimal weight, which is one of the ...

Exact 3D solutions and finite element 2D models for free vibration analysis of plates and cylinders
The paper proposes a comparison between classical two-dimensional (2D) finite elements (FEs) and an exact three-dimensional (3D) solution for the free vibration analysis of one-layered and multilayered isotropic, composite and sandwich plates and ...
