High Temperature Mechanical Properties and Wear Performance of B4C/Al7075 Metal Matrix Composites

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In this study, high volume fraction B4C reinforced Al matrix composites were fabricated with a liquid pressing process. Microstructural analysis by scanning electron microscope and a transmission electron microscopy shows a uniform distribution of the ...

Development and characterization of composites consisting of woven fabrics with integrated prismatic shaped cavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Composites are extensively used in automotive, construction, airplanes, wind turbines etc. because of their good mechanical properties such as high specific stiffness, high specific strength and resistance against fatigue. The main issues with composites

Oxygen‐Vacancy Abundant Ultrafine Co3O4/Graphene Composites for High‐Rate Supercapacitor Electrodes

open access: yesAdvancement of science, 2018
The metal oxides/graphene composites are one of the most promising supercapacitors (SCs) electrode materials. However, rational synthesis of such electrode materials with controllable conductivity and electrochemical activity is the topical challenge for

Mycobacterium tuberculosis sulfurtransferase SseA is activated by its neighboring gene product Rv3284

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tuberculosis remains a global health challenge and new therapeutic targets are required. Here, we characterized SseA, a sulfurtransferase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis involved in macrophage infection, and its interaction with the newly identified protein SufEMtb that activates SseA enzymatic activity.

A composition for matroids

open access: yesJournal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B, 1975
AbstractThe composition of a quotient matroid Q over a collection of component matroids f1, …, fn indexed on the cells of Q, is described. This composition, called quotient composition, may be viewed as an application of clutter composition to matroids, or as a generalization of matroid direct sum composition to the next higher connectivity.

Aβ42 promotes the aggregation of α‐synuclein splice isoforms via heterogeneous nucleation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aggregation of amyloid‐β (Aβ) and α‐synuclein (αSyn) is associated with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. This study reveals that Aβ aggregates serve as potent nucleation sites for the aggregation of αSyn and its splice isoforms, shedding light on the intricate interplay between these two pathogenic proteins.
