Compound Conway-Maxwell Poisson Gamma Distribution: Properties and Estimation
The distribution of a random sum of random events is called a compound distribution. It involves a counting (discrete) distribution to model the number of occurrences of the random event in a fixed time period and a continuous distribution to model the ...

An inventory control project in a major Danish company using compound renewal demand models [PDF]
We describe the development of a framework to compute the optimal inventory policy for a large spare-parts’ distribution centre operation in the RA division of the Danfoss Group in Denmark.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A Characterization of the Compound Multiparameter Hermite Gamma Distribution via Gauss’s Principle
We consider the class of those distributions that satisfy Gauss's principle (the maximum likelihood estimator of the mean is the sample mean) and have a parameter orthogonal to the mean.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Universality of shell effects in fusion-fission mass distributions
We present the results of a broad, systematic study of heavy-ion induced fission mass distributions for every even-Z compound nucleus (ZCN) from 144Gd to 212Th. We find systematic evidence of shell-driven structure in every fission mass distribution. The

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

In this paper, a compound-Gaussian model (CGM) with the Nakagami-distributed textures (CGNG) is proposed to model sea clutter at medium/high grazing angles. The corresponding amplitude distributions are referred to as the CGNG distributions. The analysis

Modelling travel time distribution and its influence over stochastic vehicle scheduling
Due to the paucity of well-established modelling approaches or well-accepted travel time distributions, the existing travel time models are often assumed to follow certain popular distributions, such as normal or lognormal, which may lead to results ...
