The analysis of complex matrices, such as perfumes, by means of gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) can be rather imprecise due to the co-elutions, leading to a possible masking of odour-active trace-level compounds by major interferences or agglomeration of olfactive impressions resulting in unreliable olfactive characterization.
