Polaronic and Electrochemical Signatures in Group IVB (Ti, Zr, Hf) Oxides: Unified SKP–DFT Insights for Tunable Transport in Energy and Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Charge carrier concentration and mobility in TiO2, ZrO2, and HfO2 powder films are experimentally mapped as a function of temperature. The results uncover polaron‐mediated transport regimes and field‐activated conduction, enabling the design of oxide‐based electronic and energy devices with thermally tunable functionality.

Economics of thermal energy storage for compressed air energy storage systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The costs of compressed air energy storage (CAES) systems utilizing thermal energy storage are compared with the costs of conventional CAES systems and combustion gas turbine systems. Comparisons are made on the basis of system energy cost levelized over system operating lifetime (mills/kWh). The comparison was performed by Pacific Northwest Laboratory

Compressed Air Energy Storage-Part II: Application to Power System Unit Commitment

open access: yes, 2017
Unit commitment (UC) is one of the most important power system operation problems. To integrate higher penetration of wind power into power systems, more compressed air energy storage (CAES) plants are being built.

Investigation of storage system designs and techniques for optimizing energy conservation in integrated utility systems. Volume 1: (Executive summary) [PDF]

open access: yes
Integrated Utility Systems (IUS) have been suggested as a means of reducing the cost and conserving the nonrenewable energy resources required to supply utility services (energy, water, and waste disposal) to developments of limited size.
