Capacitance and compressibility of heterostructures with strong electronic correlations

open access: yes, 2017
Strong electronic correlations related to a repulsive local interaction suppress the electronic compressibility in a single-band model, and the capacitance of a corresponding metallic film is directly related to its electronic compressibility.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Generalized solutions to linearized equations of thermoelastic solid and viscous thermofluid

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
Within the framework of continuum mechanics, the full description of joint motion of elastic bodies and compressible viscous fluids with taking into account thermal effects is given by the system consisting of the mass, momentum, and energy balance ...

Effect of Fines Content on the Compression Behavior of Calcareous Sand

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Due to the hydraulic sorting effect in the hydraulic filling process, a fine-grained aggregate layer dominated by silty fine sand with uneven distribution is easily formed in reclamation projects, which triggers issues with the bearing capacity and ...

The theoretical-empirical technique of hydrocarbons prediction in the boreholes logs with the basic parameter – compressibility

open access: yesМінеральні ресурси України, 2018
The theoretical-empirical technique of hydrocarbon prediction in the boreholes logs is presented. It is based on the adequate physical-mathematical model of rocks, on the empirical relations between compressibility, porosity and pressure for these rocks,

Compressibility of bilayer graphene

open access: yes, 2010
Bilayer graphene is a recently isolated and intriguing class of many-body systems with massive chiral quasiparticles. We present theoretical results for the electronic compressibility of bilayer graphene that are based on a four-band continuum band ...

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...
