Flow Structures in a Compressible Elliptical Cavity Flow
This experimental and numerical study determines the time-averaged flow patterns within an elliptical cavity at a freestream Mach number of 0.83. The elliptical cavity model has a length-to-depth ratio of 4.43, which is classified as an open cavity flow.

The role of fluid flow in the dynamics of active nematic defects
We adapt the Halperin–Mazenko formalism to analyze two-dimensional active nematics coupled to a generic fluid flow. The governing hydrodynamic equations lead to evolution laws for nematic topological defects and their corresponding density fields.

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

DNS of compressible turbulent channel flow subject to strong temperature gradient
A direct numerical simulation of compressible turbulent channel flow at low Mach number(Ma = 0.3) subject to strong temperature gradient is conducted. The wall temperature ratios which are defined by a temperature on the upper wall divided by that on the

W‐Based Thin Film Metallic Glasses Doped with Ni, Zr, and B for Industrial Applications
This work is the first to deal with a comprehensive comparison of two metallic glass systems, W–Zr–B and W–Ni–B, in terms of their suitability for specific industrial applications. Their mechanical and tribological properties are compared and discussed in combination with structural homogeneity on different types of technically relevant substrates and ...

Equilibration, compression and flow at the bevalac [PDF]
This paper presents data acquired in the past two years by the Streamer Chamber group and the Plastic Ball group. The paper presents evidence that at Bevalac energies, head-on nuclear collisions result in stopping; it presents evidence for collective flow of the interacting nuclei; it presents evidence that a substantial part of the energy is tied up ...
