Compressive Sensing and Compressive Holography
2015It is well known from communication theory that for a sampled signal, the sampling rate must be greater than twice the signal bandwidth for faithful reproduction of the original signal. The concept of sampling at the Nyquist rate was postulated by Shannon in 1949; in the same year, Golay introduced the idea of artificial discrete multiplex coding in ...

Compressibility and consolidation
1995Compressibility and consolidation can be distinguished as: • compressibility — volume changes in a soil when subjected to pressure amounts of settlement • consolidation — rate of volume change with time time to produce a given ...

Compressible turbulent mixing: Effects of compressibility
Physical Review E, 2016We studied by numerical simulations the effects of compressibility on passive scalar transport in stationary compressible turbulence. The turbulent Mach number varied from zero to unity. The difference in driven forcing was the magnitude ratio of compressive to solenoidal modes.

Publisher Summary Compression algorithms are normally used to reduce the size of a file without removing information. This can increase their entropy and make the files appear more random because all of the possible bytes become more common. The compression algorithms can also be useful when they’re used to produce mimicry by running the compression ...
