Predictability of obstructive sleep apnea with a somesthetic screening score: Development and preliminary validation in a prospective study

open access: yesSleep Research, EarlyView.
This prospective study developed a two‐step clinical scoring system for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) screening based on patients’ somesthetic perception of oropharyngeal airflow. The Intermediate Score (IS ≥ 7.5) achieved 73% sensitivity and 77% specificity (AUC = 0.7754; OR = 8.96).

Biomarkers to predict outcomes in diabetic foot ulcers

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Studies attempting to predict the healing outcome of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) have investigated various biological materials and recovered molecules that may aid in discriminating wounds that will heal and those that will not heal. This graphical abstract captures the commonly studied classes of biomarkers in the context of DFUs.

AICA compression causing dual cranial neuropathy: A case of trigeminal neuralgia and facial nerve palsy

open access: yes
Background: Classical trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is most often caused by neurovascular compression of the trigeminal root. The coexistence of TN and facial nerve palsy due to compression by the same vessel is exceptionally rare.
