Drift compression of space charge dominated beams [PDF]

open access: yesPACS2001. Proceedings of the 2001 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.01CH37268), 2002
Heavy ion driven inertial fusion drivers and experiments use space-charge dominated beams that require longitudinal bunch compression to increase the power delivered on target. In these scenarios, a drift compression section is designed such that the longitudinal compression stagnates as a result of the space charge repulsion of the beam.

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Analysis of Biaxial Mechanical Properties and Failure Criterion of Self-Compacting Concrete

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
Biaxial compression-compression, biaxial tension-compression and compression-shear tests were carried out on self-compacting concrete (SCC) using the rock true triaxial machine and compression-shear hydraulic servo machine to explore the biaxial ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

rf barrier compression with space charge

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2010
Because of the long synchrotron period between the two barriers, bunch compression in a barrier bucket is usually relatively slow. The conservation of the phase space area requires that the compression is performed adiabatically, that is much slower than

An explanation of perisaccadic compression of visual space

open access: yesVision Research, 2011
A large number of experiments show that perisaccadic flash mislocalization can vary according to the spatial location of the flash relative to the saccade, especially in the presence of background stimuli. The temporal attributes of this mislocalization suggest that, around the time of a saccade, a transient compression of visual space occurs.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...
