Collaborative Compressive Detection With Physical Layer Secrecy Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2017
This paper considers the problem of detecting a high dimensional signal (not necessarily sparse) based on compressed measurements with physical layer secrecy guarantees. First, we propose a collaborative compressive detection (CCD) framework to compensate for the performance loss due to compression with a single sensor.

Assessment of skin in patients with systemic sclerosis using high‐frequency ultrasound and shear wave elastography: A comparative study with histology, molecular and clinical parameters

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Ultrasound (US) has been proposed as a potential tool for assessing skin fibrosis in systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, a large‐scale comparison of US‐based assessment with histological markers of skin fibrosis has not been reported. We evaluated the US‐based skin assessments for their face validity (differentiation between involved SSc and ...

The equations of state of nine materials up to 0.43 TPa for extreme pressure science

open access: yesCommunications Materials
Extreme high-pressure generation beyond the Earth’s central pressure is currently achieved by static compression. The high-pressure technology is a key not only for the condensed matter physics but also for the earth and planetary science to understand ...

Induced tooth movement: standardization of terms to describe the effects of forces on the periodontal ligament: compression/Traction instead of Pressure/Tension

open access: yesDental Press Journal of Orthodontics, 2012
There is no reason for Dentistry to use different terms for phenomena defined in Physics, the specific field in which concepts associated with forces are established and adapted. In place of pressure/tension, the compression/traction pair should be used.

Magnetothermodynamics: Measurements Of The Thermodynamic Properties In A Relaxed Magnetohydrodynamic Plasma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We have explored the thermodynamics of compressed magnetized plasmas in laboratory experiments and we call these studies ‘magnetothermodynamics’. The experiments are carried out in the Swarthmore Spheromak eXperiment device.

Financial Distress and its Determinants in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective To quantify the degree of financial distress and identify its determinants in adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) given the frequent chronic use of expensive disease modifying therapies. Methods We identified adults enrolled in the FORWARD databank with either RA or non‐inflammatory musculoskeletal disease (NIMSKD) completing the Functional

Infrared attosecond field transients and UV to IR few-femtosecond pulses generated by high-energy soliton self-compression

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Infrared femtosecond laser pulses are important tools both in strong-field physics, driving x-ray high-harmonic generation, and as the basis for widely tunable, if inefficient, ultrafast sources in the visible and ultraviolet. Although anomalous material

Evaluation of finite element modeling methods for predicting compression screw failure in a custom pelvic implant

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
Introduction: Three-dimensional (3D)-printed custom pelvic implants have become a clinically viable option for patients undergoing pelvic cancer surgery with resection of the hip joint.

Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves using machine learning and dynamic mode decomposition

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Summary Data‐driven forecasting of ship motions in waves is investigated through feedforward and recurrent neural networks as well as dynamic mode decomposition. The goal is to predict future ship motion variables based on past data collected on the field, using equation‐free approaches.
