The Physics of Tablet Compression*
Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1954Results obtained from studies on the dependency on compressional force of various physical properties of compressed tablets are shown to be in good qualitative agreement with those found in an earlier investigation on sulfathiazole tablets. Such differences in behavior of several granulations as were found could be attributed mainly to the difference ...

Virtual and physical prototyping for compression sportswear
2013For high end compression sportswear it has increasingly become a crowded and highly competitive market with almost all sportswear companies having some form of offering. This work done in conjunction with a multinational sportswear group explores the use of virtual (FEA) and physical prototyping for a new garment design to ensure a competitive product ...

Ultra-high fatigue life of NiTi cylinders for compression-based elastocaloric cooling
Applied Physics Letters, 2019We investigated the fatigue behavior of superelastic polycrystalline NiTi cylinders during reversible partial transformation under cyclic adiabatic compression at 20 Hz with a maximum stress of 800 MPa.

New Developments in the Physical Chemistry of Shock Compression
Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 2011This review discusses new developments in shock compression science with a focus on molecular media. Some basic features of shock and detonation waves, nonlinear excitations that can produce extreme states of high temperature and high pressure, are described. Methods of generating and detecting shock waves are reviewed, especially those using tabletop

Compressive Behavior of Concrete: Physical Mechanisms and Modeling
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1996This paper seeks for a better understanding of the failure mechanisms of concrete in compression and explores the possibilities of incorporating these physical mechanisms in the computational modeling of concrete behavior. In the first half, the standard compression test is revisited.

Effect of the Earth’s compression on the physical libration of the Moon
Solar System Research, 2012The effect of the Earth’s compression on the physical libration of the Moon is studied using a new vector method. The moment of gravitational forces exerted on the Moon by the oblate Earth is derived considering second order harmonics. The terms in the expression for this moment are arranged according to their order of magnitude.

Selective upstream influence on the unsteadiness of a separated turbulent compression ramp flow
The Physics of Fluids, 2019A study of the shock-wave/boundary-layer interaction induced by a compression ramp was carried out using high-fidelity simulations. The objective was to investigate the influence of upstream disturbances on low-frequency separation unsteadiness.

On physical layer secrecy of collaborative compressive detection
2014 48th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2014This paper considers the problem of collaborative compressive detection under a physical layer secrecy constraint. More specifically, we consider the problem where the network operates in the presence of an eavesdropper who wants to discover the state of the nature being monitored by the system.
